Celebrate National Library Week April 12-18
Mundy Branch joins libraries in schools and communities
nationwide in celebrating National Library Week, a time to
highlight the changing role of libraries, librarians and library
workers. Libraries today are more than warehouses for
books. Instead, libraries and librarians are change agents
within their communities – transforming lives through
innovative educational resources and forward-thinking
programming. Whatever your interest or need, Mundy
Branch strives to be a place of unlimited possibilities, with
the staff and resources to help you accomplish your goals
and dreams.

Build a Buoyant Boat
Wednesday, April 15, 5:00 p.m.
Why do boats float? Why do pennies sink? Explore both
questions at Mundy’s Science Series by building a boat
that will allow pennies to float. How many pennies can
your boat hold? What will you use to build your boat? For
ages 8 and up.
Earth Day Salute

Hip hip hooray for clean air, land and water on Earth Day!

Tai Chi for Kids
Wednesday, April 8, 4:00 p.m.
Join members of the Syracuse branch of the Taoist Tai Chi
Society for a fun introduction to tai chi! Children will learn
proper techniques for stretching, breathing and movement in
addition to the history of tai chi. For ages 8 and up.

Mondays, April 13, 20 and 27, 3:30 p.m.
Challenge yourself and have fun with your friends playing
this great word game for kids. For ages 7–11.

us for a 60-minute handson workshop full of fun,
laughter and learning.

audience involvement. No one will be able to resist
discovering more about science!

Saturday walk-in tax service begins at 9:00 a.m.
Registration is limited by VITA volunteers.
TASC™ High School Equivalency Study Class
Mondays – Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
New York State has retired the GED and implemented
an alternative high school equivalency exam called Test
Assessing Secondary Completion™, or TASC™. Those
interested in enrolling in Mundy’s free study class should
contact either Case Manager Javier Garcia of the West
Literacy Zone at 435-2124 or Mundy staff at 435-3797.
DIY Tax Sessions
Thursday, April 2, 11:00 a.m - 2:00 p.m.
Mundy Branch has partnered with the NYS Department of
Taxation and Finance (DTF) to help you file both your state
and federal taxes for free. If your income is under $60,000,
you qualify to receive assistance from DTF volunteers. Using
a DTF laptop, you prepare your own tax return using a free
interview-style program, then electronically file your return for
free. You will also be able to print a free paper copy of your
return for your records. Appointments are required to take
advantage of this service. Visit or call Mundy Branch at
435-3797 to schedule an appointment.
