Rationale: Bricolage Academy, Inc. requests an amendment to the school’s current operating
agreement with OPSB, in order to permit Bricolage Academy, Inc. to move to its new location
at 3368 Esplanade Avenue for the 2015-2016 school year. The facility will be inspected in
accordance with OPSB Policy E500 prior to student arrival.
Recommendation: That the Orleans Parish School Board approves the request to amend the
Operating Agreement between OPSB and Bricolage Academy to reflect the school’s new
location.

reasonable assurance of employment to each employee covered under R.S. 23:1600. (Draft Attached)
Summary of recommendation or proposed changes:
Letters of Reasonable Assurance of employment are provided annually to nine (9) and ten (10) month school
district employees in compliance with ACT 745 and R.S. 23:1600 Benefit Eligibility Conditions for
unemployment. The Statute provides that “in an instructional, research, or principal administrative capacity
for any educational institution, including institutions of higher education and local public school systems,
benefits shall not be paid based on such service for any week of unemployment commencing during the
period between two successive academic years, if there is a contract or a reasonable assurance that such
individual will perform services in any such capacity for any educational institution in the second of such
academic years or terms. The provisions of this Paragraph shall include any service performed in an
instructional, research, or principal administrative capacity including service performed by a temporary or
uncertified teacher or instructor.”

Title: 2015 Students of the Year Recognition Program
RECOMMENDATION:
Summary of recommendation or proposed changes
The Students of the Year Award is designed to recognize outstanding elementary, middle and high
school students in the parish of Orleans for their achievements. This program, patterned after the
Teacher of the Year Awards Program, is an excellent opportunity to acknowledge those students
who have demonstrated excellent academic achievement, leadership ability and citizenship. The
Students of the Year Awards Program is sponsored by the Louisiana State Superintendent through
the State Department of Education and the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. The
funding for the scholarship awards have been donated through an Act of donation by the High
School Scholarship Association, Inc., the Jewish Endowment Foundation of Louisiana to support
scholarships for the Orleans Parish School Board Scholars and Donation from the Marie Atchley
Estate.
