This role also carries with it the responsibility for coordinating the Early Years Department. Children enter Pre-Nursery after they are 2 years old and follow the UK Early Years Foundation Stage Framework throughout Pre-Nursery to Reception age. Rooms are bright, spacious and well resourced. The Pre-Nursery teacher has a reduced timetable due to the sleeping arrangements for these children. This provided non-contact time to support planning, preparation and management of the other EYFS classes. The Pre-Nursery class is also supported by local, fully qualified and experienced Teaching Assistants, who are managed by the Class Teacher. All teachers in the school offer two Co-Curricular Activities, which tend to be focused on the individual teacher’s particular skills and interests. Teachers are also expected to participate in duties each week, either for part of the lunchtime or in the morning break. Class sizes are small (maximum size 22 but mostly 14-18). Pupils are very well behaved and have a very good work ethos and are bright and keen to learn.
