AMERICAN PUBLIC WORKS ASSOCIATION OREGON CHAPTER CENTRAL COAST LUNCHEON Friday, May 8, 2015 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM +Add Event to Calendar Schooner Creek Bank Stabilization Project Presented by: Samuel Chandler, PE, Project Engineer / City of Lincoln City Stephanie Reid, PE, City Engineer / City of Lincoln City Michael Zenthoefer, CPESC, Environmental Site Manager / Point Environmental LLC The City of Lincoln City experienced severe creek bank erosion on Schooner Creek following the January 2011 rain event, the erosion continued to worsen at each high tide and threatening a road and several utilities. Using a number of restoration techniques, the section of eroded bank in the Schooner Creek/Siletz Bay estuary was stabilized. Learn about the funding, design, engineering, permitting and construction of this project. The contractor will share a valuable perspective about the project including: Construction plans - what worked and didn't work, Large woody debris pros and cons, work in the estuary - concerns, pitfalls, lessons learned, and advice to agencies and engineers about designing this type of work.
