Schooner Creek Bank Stabilization Project
Presented by:
Samuel Chandler, PE, Project Engineer / City of Lincoln City
Stephanie Reid, PE, City Engineer / City of Lincoln City
Michael Zenthoefer, CPESC, Environmental Site Manager / Point Environmental LLC
The City of Lincoln City experienced severe creek bank erosion on Schooner Creek following the
January 2011 rain event, the erosion continued to worsen at each high tide and threatening a
road and several utilities. Using a number of restoration techniques, the section of eroded bank in
the Schooner Creek/Siletz Bay estuary was stabilized. Learn about the funding, design,
engineering, permitting and construction of this project. The contractor will share a valuable
perspective about the project including: Construction plans - what worked and didn't work, Large
woody debris pros and cons, work in the estuary - concerns, pitfalls, lessons learned, and advice
to agencies and engineers about designing this type of work.
Please join us for the first (planned to be quarterly) Oregon Chapter Luncheon to be held at the
CENTRAL OREGON COAST!!! Don’t miss your opportunity to meet other public works
professionals from the central coast and obtain one Professional Development Hour Credit.
