We heard from all of you during our 2013 strategic planning process that our space needed to be updated and that selfservice options needed to be added, and we prioritized these projects in 2014. We worked hard with a designer to create updated spaces that better meets the needs of our community. We are pleased with the results of our renovation, and we have heard from many of you that you are as well. In fact, I wanted to share with you an important statistic. Since we launched our self-checkout systems in December 2014, we have been watching to see what the usage of these systems is. In December, about 33% of our checkouts were done on the self-checkout systems. In January, that number increased to 40%, and in February, we were just over 50%. This tells us that the selfcheckout systems have received a great amount of usage in the first few months, and we are thrilled that patrons are finding them so helpful! We also know that many patrons prefer to checkout items with a staff member, and we still have many staff members available to assist you with any of your library needs. Please do not hesitate to talk with any of our staff members for assistance or if you have any concerns. We are here for you. Spring and summer are my favorite seasons, and we have many things happening at the library to celebrate! First, on Saturday, May 16 from 7:00p-10:00p, the Friends of the Library will be having their Passport to Spring fundraising event, Mexico: an evening of colors, flavors, and traditions! Do not miss this opportunity for a fun evening at the library with food, drinks, entertainment, and information about Mexico. Tickets are available now online and at the library. Then, on Saturday, June 13 from 11:00a-2:00p, we will kick off our Summer Reading program with family fun at the library. You can enjoy a wide variety of activities and sign up for our Summer Reading program, which has opportunities for all ages throughout the summer! We look forward to seeing you and your family at the library very soon! Karen Knox Library Wishlist Don’t forget to check out our Library Wishlist.
