What’s this going to be like? Am I going to…sweat? We are so excited that you’re excited about Outside the Lines. We also think it’s important for you to know that this trip will be physically demanding and our days can be kind of long. It’s extremely likely that you will have to use the bathroom outside at some point (unless you just hold it…which we do not recommend). There will be lots of walking so it’s important that you have appropriate footwear. Also, it’s gonna be June and that means that it will be hot outside. You will sweat, so it’s important to stay hydrated, and there will be bugs, so bug spray will be helpful. You don’t have to be an expert or even have any experience with camping, canoeing, or hiking, but we do ask that you have a positive attitude, and a willingness to try new things and engage in strenuous physical activity. We’ll be having fun, that’s for sure, but we’ll also be working hard sometimes too and we need everyone’s participation in order to make this trip successful. So, what’s expected of me if I go? We’re so glad you asked! It’s everyone’s job to create a safe and fun environment for all participants, so there are some important things we all need to agree to: • No illegal drugs, alcohol or weapons of any kind, ever. • Behave responsibly, use good judgment, and respect all other participants. • Respect the group and comply with decisions made by program staff, who are responsible for keeping group members safe and trained to do this. Anyone who doesn’t adhere to these agreements may be immediately dismissed from the program, and must be picked up by a legal guardian at the location where the group is if this dismissal occurs. Ok, I can get down with all of this, so what’s it going to cost? There is no cost to participate in Outside the Lines! However, we do ask that participants pay a deposit of $20 to reserve a space, which you will get back at the end of the program. This deposit is due June 1. If you can’t pay this deposit, please let us know so we can discuss other arrangements. Oh, and there’s one more thing… We are looking for participants for Outside the Lines this summer who will also be involved in the coming 2015-‐2016 school year. By participating in Outside the Lines, you are agreeing to work with iNSIDEoUT in creating awesome, anti-‐racist, queer and radical change in your schools and communities. Participants who are able to make this commitment, and who successfully complete the Outside the Lines program will receive a $200 stipend upon completion (yes, you have to make it to the end!)
