Rubbish/Garbage
Rubbish belong only to the rubbish bin
(and then into the container) and nowhere
else! Please, take your rubbish to the
containers behind the dormitory and
recycle your waste!
DO NOT THROW ANYTHING OUT OF THE
WINDOW, DON’T LEAVE GARBAGE ON THE
BALCONY AND KEEP YOUR ROOMS CLEAN!
PEOPLE WHO WILL BE SEEN THROWING OUT RUBBISH IN FRONT OF THE DORMITORY OR
THROWING ANYTHING OUT OF THE WINDOW WILL BE PUNISHED BY A FINE UP TO 5 000
CZK (200 EUR) FOR VIOLATION OF DORMITORY RULES.
Silent hours
RESPECT THE SILENT HOURS AFTER 10 P.M. TO 6 A.M.
Dormitory rules: Article 10, paragraph 9:
„The hostel residents must not to be a nuisance during night hours, i.e. between 22:00 and
6:00, to refrain from making noise. In particular during that time no musical instrument may
be played, no loud entertainment and in fact no loud activity can be made.“
INTERFERENCE OF SILENT HOURS WILL BE SOLVED BY THE POLICE USING A LEGAL FINE UP
TO 1 000 CZK + FINE UP TO 5 000 CZK FROM THE DORMITORY MANAGER.
The walls are very thin, so please shut down the music and close your doors. There is a party
room on the 2nd floor for this. You can reserve the Party room in advance at the reception.
You can have a party there till midnight.

Exchange of bed linen/sheets
ALL STUDENTS HAVE TO PUT THE BED LINEN ON THEIR DUVET AND PILLOW AND THE
MATTRESS MUST BE COVERED WITH THE BED SHEETS!
Storage room is in the corridor on the first floor opposite to the reception. Show your
dormitory card to the storage keeper (Ms. Roterrová). After this you receive bed linen in
exchange for the used ones (used bed linen must be folded). You can exchange your bed
linen every 14 days.

Washing machines and dryers
Washing machines











the washing machines can be rented for 2 hours and the fee is 20 CZK
you can book the washing machine at reception 7 days in advance (laundry room is in
the basement)
your dormitory card will be kept at the reception until the key is returned
follow the time schedule
for example: if you sign up for 4 o'clock to do your laundry, come to pick up the key
at 4 o'clock
use ONLY the washing machine which you borrowed
for example: if you received the key of washing machine no. 3, you can use ONLY this
one, not any other; if you use a different one, your clothes will be taken out and you
will pay a fine
watch out for the program you choose – washing machines will show you the exact
time of washing, so that you will not exceed the time scheduled for you
all mechanical damages must be announced at the reception without delay
if student announces the damage caused by him/her immediately, he/she will be
required to pay 40 % costs
if student will not act fair and will need to be investigated by the dorm’s staff, he/she
will be forced to pay the whole value of repair cost
IF YOU CROSS THE LIMIT OF 2 HOURS, YOU HAVE TO PAY A FINE 50 CZK FOR EVERY
STARTED 2 HOURS! MANUALS FOR WASHING MACHINES YOU CAN FIND ON DORMITORY
WEBSITES.
Tumble dryers
Rules for using of tumble dryers are the same like for borrowing washing machines with only
the one difference, that the tumble dryer can be rented for 3 hours and the fee is 30 CZK.

Dryers (clothes horse)
The students can borrow one clothes horse per double room for the whole semester. One
student from the double room can pick up the clothes horse at the storage of bed linen and
pay the deposit of 400 CZK. The same person has to return the clothes horse at the end of
the semester. In case the clothes horse is broken, the deposit will not be returned.

Mail
You can find your mail such as letters and postcards in the box next to the reception. In case
you have received a package, your name will be written on the blue board next to the
reception. After showing your dormitory card at the reception you will receive your package
or a paper from the post office, where you have to pick up your package.
Internet connection
There are 2 options how to connect to the internet:
1. Cable internet – you must to buy network cable.
2. Wi-Fi EDUROAM – you must set your wi-fi password but if you want to set the wi-fi
password, you need internet connection (ask your friend, buddy or go to school). In
case that your university support EDUROAM, you can use your university username
and password.
If you do not have your password into ISIS (university network), please go to the room SB 22
(at the university, Old Building) to Helpdesk / IT support and you will get your password. PC
setting and other important information can be found at dormitory websites. In case of any

Study rooms
STUDY ROOMS ARE FOR THE STUDYING NOT FOR THE PARTY!
There are 6 study rooms in 3rd, 6th and 9th floor. You can borrow the key at the reception in
exchange of your dormitory card. It is free, but you have to return the key till midnight.
Exchange of broken furnishing
At the reception there is “The Book of Defects”. Anything that needs to be repaired has to be
written in CZECH in this book. The problem will be solved as soon as possible. In case of any
problems, you can ask the housing coordinators for help. If the cooker is broken, clean it and
bring it to Mrs. Rotterová – she will fix it for 80 CZK (in the case of minor damage; in the case
of intentional damage will be required full cost of repair). usually until the next day,
otherwise you can borrow a replacement).

Visits
Every person who doesn’t stay at Jarov III. F must be registered at the reception as a guest.
Guests can stay with you in your room for 57 CZK/night. There is also a possibility to book a
hotel accommodation at Jarov III. F and stay in a different room. The pricelist can be found

FAQ





Smoking at the dormitory
o The smoking is strictly forbidden everywhere in dormitory building even on the
balcony! In case you want to smoke you have to go outside.
The light bulb cracks
o You can exchange the damaged light bulb for a new one at reception (you need
to present you dorm ID card).
I get locked out
o Call someone from Dormitory Committee. Names and the phone numbers of
the Dormitory Committee members are on the board next to the manager
office door (opposite the reception).
There is troublesome insect
o ants: write down the number of your room and place where the ants are on the
board placed on the left side of the dormitory manager's office;
o other insect (bedbugs, etc.): you are obliged to inform your housing
coordinator and dormitory manager immediately. If you will not report insect in
your room, costs of disinfestation could be billed to the offender in case of
large contamination.
Lost keys or dormitory card
o report the loss immediately to the dormitory manager; in case you lost the keys
report it to the dormitory manager and receptionist; the fine for lost dormitory
card is 300 CZK; fine for lost keys is 2000 CZK
