TRY TO AVOID FOOD AND DRINK THAT STAIN YOUR TEETH AND DO NOT SMOKE.
If, after following the steps above you are still not happy with how white your teeth are, then professional
teeth whitening is the answer.
There are two main options; teeth whitening strips and tray whitening systems - or a combination of the two.
Professional teeth whitening products contain peroxide which is an ingredient which physically whitens the
colour of teeth by oxidising stains.
There are no shortcuts to achieving a whiter smile. Staining on your teeth has built-up over many years and so the
only way to safely and effectively lighten the shade of your teeth is to use a peroxide based product which gradually
breaks the stains down.
Whitening that is done slowly and steadily will also create longer-lasting results, especially when used with
maintenance products such as whitening toothpastes and electric toothbrushes.

plastic strips containing the optimum amount of whitening gel to

gentle whitening formula that helps to limit tooth sensitivity,
these enamel-safe professional whitening strips are designed to
follow the contour of your teeth, enabling you to safely and
comfortably achieve whiter teeth by applying the strips for 60 plus
minutes once a day for 14 days.
If you are unsure about teeth whitening then strips can be an
excellent way to try it with minimal financial commitment. Also if
you have had whitening before then strips are perfect for a top up.

PROFESSIONAL TRAY WHITENING
Your dentist will make a custom-made whitening tray that will fit your teeth perfectly. The teeth whitening
gel is then added to the whitening tray and this is then worn either during the day or throughout the night
whilst you are asleep. The gel is more expensive than the teeth whitening strips but can be used for
prolonged periods and is therefore suitable for people that have more severe discolouration.
WhiteWash Professional Teeth Whitening Gel has been designed to help you conveniently achieve a white
smile as easily as possible. There are two types of teeth whitening gel in three different strengths – your
dentist will talk to you about the one that is most suitable for you.
HYDROGEN PEROXIDE TEETH WHITENING GEL
CARBAMIDE PEROXIDE TEETH WHITENING GEL
This gel is faster acting than the carbamide
peroxide option and would be worn for 90 minutes
during the day. This works really well for heavily
stained teeth.
This gel works in a different way to hydrogen
peroxide and the percentages should not be
compared. This gel has slow release ingredients so
can be worn for longer periods, usually overnight.

Whitening toothpaste can help to remove stains and restore teeth back to their natural whiteness. Your teeth naturally
discolour as you eat and drink, even if you have had your teeth whitened. By using a whitening toothpaste you can keep
your teeth whiter for longer. Our whitening toothpastes can also help remove plaque, protect against tartar and cavities
and of course keep your teeth and gums clean and fresh.
REMINERALISING WHITENING TOOTHPASTE
SILVER PARTICLE WHITENING TOOTHPASTE
This toothpaste contains hydroxyapatite which is one of
the building blocks of tooth enamel. It seals the dentinal
tubules, the micro-pores that can be exposed on the tooth
surface. This helps to prevent sensitivity and can also
create a lustre on your teeth that can brighten their
appearance. Together with the micro-polishers, which
work to remove stains, your teeth will look lighter and
brighter. The formula also contains flouride and xylitol to
help prevent tooth decay. The end result is a preventative,
remineralising and whitening toothpaste.
This toothpaste contains special micro-polishers that
help to clean and brighten teeth. Uniquely, it also
contains 99.9% pure silver particles. Silver gives a
natural anti-bacterial element to the toothpaste.
Fluoride is also an important ingredient that is added to
the formula as well as the natural ingredients of green
tea extract, vitamin E, aloe vera and grapefruit seed
extract. This all comes together to give you an antibacterial toothpaste that not only helps to keep your
teeth white but also leaves your mouth feeling fresh
and clean.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
IS TEETH WHITENING SAFE?
Yes it is. Teeth whitening is widely practised by dentists throughout the world and hydrogen peroxide and carbamide
peroxide are used to whiten teeth safely. Only qualified dentists are allowed to use and supply products with 0.1% 6% hydrogen peroxide (6% hydrogen peroxide approximately equates to 18% carbamide peroxide).
Though the whitening strips and gel are non-harmful to the human body, it is advised that children under the age of
18, pregnant women, and those sensitive to hydrogen peroxide should not use them. Patients with teeth sensitive to
cold, heat or acid, or those who suffer from oral ulceration should discuss this with their prescribing dentist before
undergoing a course of whitening treatment.
ARE TEETH WHITENING TREATMENTS AVAILABLE ELSEWHERE?
A European Directive was brought into force in 2012 to protect patients from illegal whitening. It is now illegal for
teeth whitening to be undertaken in beauty salons, hairdressers or similar places.
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?
This depends on personal dietary and lifestyle habits such as smoking. Regardless of what whitening treatment you
choose your teeth will not stay white forever – you will need to repeat the whitening again in the future because your
teeth will gradually discolour over time.
To help keep your teeth whiter for longer it is best to avoid smoking and consuming foods and drinks that stain your
teeth e.g strong coloured foods, red wine, coffee etc.
WILL I EXPERIENCE ANY SENSITIVITY?
It is not uncommon to experience tooth sensitivity whilst whitening your teeth. This is temporary and NOT harmful. To
alleviate symptoms it may be sensible to whiten your teeth on alternate days. The use of a sensitive toothpaste could
also help. When purchasing your products you will have the opportunity to discuss this with your dentist who may give
you an individual treatment plan for your whitening.
WILL TEETH WHITENING AFFECT MY DENTAL WORK?
Teeth whitening will ONLY whiten natural teeth; it will not affect caps, crowns, veneers, bridges, fillings or dentures.
Do not use on loose teeth, temporary fillings or orthodontic appliances. Consult your dentist if you have any dental
concerns.
SO WHERE DO I START?
It is best to discuss your individual needs with your dentist who can tailor a whitening treatment plan specifically to
achieve your desired results.
However, it’s usually best to start with the simplest most cost effective option first, so we suggest starting with teeth
whitening strips and if you still desire a whiter smile then try the tray whitening system.
