Dear Friend of the Paint Creek Trail,
The Friends of the Paint Creek Trail volunteer group, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is seeking sponsorship for our 5th Annual Paint Creek
Crawl Cycling Event on June 6, 2015. This cycling event utilizes the entire
8.9 miles of the popular Paint Creek Trail, the first rail-to-trail in Michigan
that receives over 100,000 users annually. The Trail traverses through
Rochester, Rochester Hills, Oakland Township, Orion Township, and the
Village of Lake Orion. Our event will headquarter at Children’s Park in Lake
Orion, and take participants to downtown Rochester via the Paint Creek
Trail. Registration starts at 8:00am, the event starts at 9:00am, and will
end by 1:00pm with a lunch and prize drawing.
The Friends of the Paint Creek Trail’s Mission is to support the use,
maintenance, and improvement of the Paint Creek Trail. Our objectives are
to encourage environmental stewardship of the trail, and to encourage
incorporating exercise into a healthy lifestyle by using the trail. In the past,
we have used donated funds to purchase bicycle repair stations, recycle bins
made of recycled plastic, and a drinking fountain. We are currently
fundraising for an educational side path development project, and are
forming an environmental stewardship group to help remove invasive
species along the trail.
We are expecting 250 cyclists for our 20 mile round-trip ride, and 250
additional participants in our Trail Etiquette program. All riders are eligible
for a $500 Gift Card Grand Prize that is donated for the event. In 2014, we
had 200 cyclists, and riders stopped at various locations to pick a playing
card. The cyclist with the highest poker hand won $250. In the past, we
had a scavenger hunt style ride that brought cyclists into local businesses
that was very successful. Our Trail Etiquette program will provide free
bicycle bells to encourage cyclists to be safe and announce when passing
others. We will also have other educational giveaways to encourage all users
to be courteous and safe on the trail.
Our target audience for the ride is adults ranging from 18-70 who ride a
bicycle. Our Trail Etiquette program will be open to all ages and abilities.
We promote our event through the League of Michigan Bicyclists Ride
Calendar, press releases, social media, email newsletter list, local
businesses, and along the trail. We reach out to bicycle clubs and promote
our event additionally through our local municipalities’ outreach programs.
Sponsorship opportunities are detailed below. If interested, please submit
the attached Sponsorship Form no later than April 1, 2015 to be included in
