Panda Express May 1 - Park Public School

HALTON DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
Panda Express - May 1, 2015
Park Students are Engaged!
Our staff do their best to make each year memorable for students. Volleyball has just finished for this
year. We are very proud of our players and our coach, Ms. Flewelling. There are many other events to
look forward to in the coming weeks. Our Battle of the Books team is gearing up for an upcoming battle
and they’ve worked very hard with Mrs. Decloe and Mrs. Brisley. The battle will take place in early May at
the local George Elliott theatre. The Track and Field and Relay team and practices haves started with
Mrs. Swica, Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Winders. The much anticipated annual Talent Show was announced
just this week and an information session was held by Mr. Bettencourt. Park’s junior student continue to
be engaged with Chess Club under the tutelage of Mr. Rooksby and Madame Ryan has students
stretching their musical skills with the Recorder Karate Club. It’s amazing that students are learning to
juggle so many extra-curricular opportunities along with the many leadership opportunities they also take
on in the school. It is a busy time of year for our students and hopefully a memorable one.
Volleyball
Congratulations to our boys volleyball team! They
won six out of eight games going into the semifinals. After a very intense game they won the
semi-finals and went on to the finals. They came in
second in the finals after a very challenging
game. We are very proud of the boys commitment
and team spirit! A special thank you to Ms.
Flewelling for leading our teams as Head Coach
and Miss Sandra Kirec for assisting.
Relay, Track & Field
Thankfully the nice weather is upon us, as we begin the Relay & Track & Field season at Park! Relay tryouts are just wrapping up and relay practices will be starting next week. The Cindy Selnes Junior Relay
meet will take place on Thursday May 21st at Nelson Stadium in Burlington.
Our in school Track & Field day here at park will take place on Monday June 1st with the rain date as
Tuesday June 2nd for students in grades 3-5. In addition, the Halton District School board Track & Field
Meet will be on Wednesday June 10th.
We are looking forward to having LOTS of fun with the Track & Field season!

Park's Annual Fun Day is Friday May 29. Information regarding classroom basket donations as well as a
request for volunteers was sent home with students this week. Classroom baskets are an exciting part of
our Fun Day Silent Auction. Contact Heather Bell (647-607-1489) or Kimberlee McNally-Stone (647-2034727) if you have any questions regarding donations. Please send all donations to the school by May

plan and organize. We rely on generous volunteers giving their time. If you are able to provide donations
