James McKee Family Update April 17, 2015 Mark     your calendar: April 21: Volleyball Game – McKee @ Sunrise – 3:30 April 23: Volleyball Game – Mack @ McKee – 3:30 April 24: SCHOOL CARNIVAL – 4:00-7:00 April 26: Runnin’ for Rhett (9:50 a.m. Crocker Park—Downtown Sac.) Come and cheer on our 87 students participating in this year’s run! 2nd WEEK OF STATE TESTING: We will start our second week of testing in grades 3-6 for the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) next week. These tests are given electronically and will help to provide important information to families and the school about student academic progress. Students will be taking a total of 6 to 9 sections of the test over the next 3 weeks. There are a few things that you can do to help your child be successful on the CAASPP: 1. 2. 3. 4. Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep the night before the test. Make sure your child eats breakfast. Make sure your child arrives to school on time. Affirm your support of your child. Remind him to do his best but not to stress. Students arriving late on testing days may be held in the office and have to make up the test at a later date. Classes testing next week include: Mrs. Freeman-6th grade; Mr. Flink-6th grade; Mrs. Williams-6th grade; Mrs. Bernardis-4th grade; Mr. Lane-4th grade; Mrs. Flink-3rd grade; and Ms. Garcia-3rd grade. Your child’s teacher will provide you with a specific schedule of the days that we are testing. CARNIVAL: It’s almost here! The school carnival is next Friday, April 24th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. We have all kinds of excitement planned for both children and adults alike. New this year will be a train and several new games. There are also many wonderful prizes available for our drawing! FINAL REQUEST – BOOK DONATIONS: Our librarian is still asking for donations of gently used books for our book sale in April at the school carnival. The funds collected will benefit our school library. Thank you! SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL: Parents are invited to join us at our School Site Council meeting on Thursday, April 23, at 3:00 p.m. in the library where we will be discussing our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) for next year.
