Welcome to K Corps, a global community service exchange program
built on Kiwanis International’s century-old tradition. This two-week
international exchange program between North America and Europe
connects Kiwanis clubs, families, and youth. As it does, it paves the way
for the development of strong global relationships and intercultural
communication skills through Kiwanis activities: meetings, fellowship,
fundraising, and service projects.
Connect Your Community
As with any exchange program, the homestay is a crucial element of the experience.
These youth aren’t seeking to be tourists; rather, they want to be fully immersed in
everyday life. That’s why club coordinators are so critical to the program’s success.
Club coordinators not only expand the concept of cultural exchange, they play a
key role in identifying, vetting, and matching the young people to families that will
provide them with the best homestay experience.
Being a club coordinator allows you to connect service-minded people, learn about
different cultures (including your own), serve as a mentor, and much more. Of
course, K Corps staff members are always available to provide support and guidance.
Seek to Serve
“Serving the children of the world” is the Kiwanis International motto, and the K Corps
community service project component is perfectly aligned with it. The younger that
one gets involved in regular community service, the more quickly one comes to
understand that volunteering benefits everyone involved. Regardless of where we
live, there are needs that need to be met.
Guided by the club coordinator, the host club will design one or more community
service projects. What’s important in your corner of the world? Projects could include
reading to pre-school children at a neighborhood library, serving lunch at a food
kitchen, planting trees at a community park, or another cause. Working together will
strengthen community ties, facilitate international fellowship, and impact local and
international Kiwanians.

K Corps seeks reliable eyes and ears—and feet—on the ground in each host community.
Volunteer club coordinators keep their fingers on the pulse of various elements of this
exchange program, including:
• Introducing and promoting the K Corps program in your community.
• Identifying and screening potential Kiwanis host families and teen participants.
• Coordinating one or more community service projects.
• Guiding international students as well as host families through cultural adjustments.
• Exposing clubs and the community to international teens and foreign cultures.

Ideal Club Coordinators
• Remain active in their club.
• Have parented or worked with teens for three or more years.
• Bring experience from education or youth programs.
• Are optimistic, motivated, flexible self-starters.
• Possess excellent communication skills.
• Enjoy a strong network within their club community.
• Have the skills to actively recruit student and host family participants.
