Maybe you are excited about the new Ranch Horse classes kicking off on May 15, 2015? If so, this could be an exciting year for you and your APHA registered ranch horse. PBPHC is offering a (3) Show Buckle series with dual-approval from both associations. All APHA classes will run concurrent with ASHA classes at the 2015 PBPHC sponsored shows What does this mean for APHA owners? Owners of APHA registered horses can earn APHA points and also work towards qualifying for the 2015 APHA World Championship Show held November 4-14, 2015 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Qualifying for the APHA World Championship Show is based on participation, not the number of points won. Essentially, you enter classes with eight different judges in at least four qualifying events and you’re in, regardless of placings or score. More information on the APHA World Show requirements can be found at www.apha.com, http://oawcs.apha.com/, or in the APHA Rule Book. How do I get started? Interested in seeing your APHA registered ranch horse earn APHA points or maybe even earn an APHA Register of Merit (ROM)? All you need to do is enter any of the (4) available classes offered at the PBPHC sponsored shows. All ASHA/APHA classes will run concurrently; however, Regular registry horses compete against each other and Solid Paint Bred Registry horses compete against other solid paints entered in the same class. In accordance with the 2015APHA Rule Book, cross competition between colored and solid paints is prohibited. Please note: ASHA shows are open to all breeds of horses. Classes will consist of all types/breeds of horses and ASHA points will be awarded accordingly. It sounds a little complicated, but here’s an example of how points are awarded for horse choosing to earn APHA points: An APHA/ASHA class may have six paints entered, four are Regular Registry and two are Solid Paint Bred Registry. A hypothetical class placing is Regular Registry horses place 2, 3, 4, and 6 in the class and the Solid Paint Bred horses place 1 and 5. APHA will reorder the placements on the APHA Judge’s card as 1, 2, 3 and 4 for the Regular Registry and award points accordingly. For the Solid Paint Registry, APHA will reorder the placements on a separate Judge’s card as 1, 2 and award points accordingly.
