Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane - 2015 The Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, Washington is a 36-bed general medical and surgical unit hospital, with a 34bed rehabilitation-oriented Community Living Center that also provides hospice and respite care for Veterans. There is a wide array of outpatient services in primary care and specialty care (medicine, surgery, behavioral health, lab and x-rays, physical medicine and rehabilitation, audiology, dental). Recently, the emergency department was temporarily converted to an Urgent Care Center while we continue aggressive recruiting efforts to hire more emergency physicians. Our commitment is to resume full services as soon as we can. The Mann-Grandstaff VAMC, its two Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Coeur d’Alene, ID and Wenatchee, WA are complemented by five VA-contracted Rural Health Clinics within a 64,000 square mile catchment area. Combined, the facility and clinics serve more than 31,000 Veterans enrolled in VA health care throughout Central and Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho, and Northwestern Montana. The facility was renamed the Mann-Grandstaff VAMC in January 2013 in honor of two Medal of Honor recipients, Army Private First Class Joe E. Mann, who gave the ultimate sacrifice for freedom in Holland during WW-II. PFC Mann was born and raised in nearby Reardan, WA. The medical center is also named for Army Platoon Sergeant Bruce A. Grandstaff, a Spokane native. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for giving his life while leading his men in battle during the Vietnam War. The Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center is committed to provide the highest quality care to Veterans. For the third consecutive year, we were recognized by The Joint Commission as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for Pneumonia. In addition, the VAMC earned its second consecutive “Gold Cornerstone Award” by the VA’s National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS).
