The morning we left it was about 4 degrees here in Iowa. When we landed in Ft Lauderdale we changed to our summer clothes and sandals and enjoyed a stroll to an Italian restaurant not far from our hotel. The Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina was a beautiful hotel. It was right on the Intracoastal Waterway and served an excellent buffet breakfast. After breakfast and watching the yachts coming and going on the waterway, we got on the shuttle to the ship, our home for the next week. We had a small group but everyone enjoyed their time on the ship and the excursions they took. You might ask “What do you do when you are on the ship for a full day?” There are always activities going on and things to do, or you can do your own thing. Hugh and Janice walked a mile each day around the Promenade Deck. Jim and I sat in the Crows Nest or on the Promenade Deck. I did some hand embroidery while Jim caught up on some reading. Some of us enjoyed the afternoon teas, karaoke and watching the Dancing with the Stars as Sea contest on the ship. We also enjoyed playing cards and just relaxing. At dinner each night, we caught up with everyone, enjoyed each others company and heard what they did during the day. It is always nice to get away from the cold in January or February. We hope to plan a winter getaway each year and would love for you to join us next winter. In addition to going to the Caribbean we could cruise the Panama Canal or cruise along the Mexican Rivera. Watch our future newsletters for information about our 2016 winter getaway. If you want to get away on your own, we can help you with those plans too.
