Peace Boat is an international
and non-profit organization that
peace, human rights, equal
development and respect for the
non-governmental
works to promote
and sustainable
environment.
Peace Boat seeks to create awareness and action
based on effecting positive social and political
change in the world, through the organization of
global educational programs
and advocacy
activities carried out on a partnership basis with
other civil society organizations and communities
in Japan, Northeast Asia, and around the world.
Since 2008, Peace Boat has conducted the Global
Voyage for a Nuclear Free World - Peace Boat
Hibakusha Project. To date, more than 150
Hibakusha (atomic bomb survivors) have traveled
around the globe to appeal for a nuclear-free
world. The 8th such voyage is now at sea, travelling
through Asia, Europe and Latin American for three
months to spread the message of the humanitarian
consequences of nuclear weapons and to appeal
for a nuclear-free world. A special video message
from this voyage will be shared at various side
events throughout the NPT.
Peace Boat carries out its activities for the abolition
of nuclear weapons in cooperation with civil society
in Japan and internationally, and is an active
member of the International Campaign to Abolish
Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), Abolition 2000, partner
of Mayors for Peace, and more.
