Fifth Sunday in Lent
Welcome to Peace! – The purpose of our congregation is to worship God, who gives
life through Word and Sacrament; to serve one another in love and fellowship; and
to proclaim forgiveness and salvation to all through Jesus Christ alone.
Before Worship
As you prepare to worship your Lord today, spend a few quiet minutes in prayer
before the service. Review the lessons, the service notes, and pray this prayer:
Prayer of the Day
Eternal God and Father, help us to remember Jesus, who obeyed Your will and bore
the cross for our salvation that through His anguish, pain, and death we may receive
forgiveness of sins and inherit eternal life; through Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

The Confession of Sin
P: Beloved in the Lord! Let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins to God,
our Father, beseeching Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us
forgiveness.
P: I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord;

C: O almighty God, merciful Father, I a poor, miserable sinner, confess to You all my

During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with
loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard
because of his reverent submission. 8Although he was a son, he learned obedience

The Holy Gospel
P: The Holy Gospel for the Fifth Sunday in Lent is written in the 12th chapter of the
Gospel according to St. John, beginning at the 20th _verse.

Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the
Feast. 21They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request.
"Sir," they said, "we would like to see Jesus." 22Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew
and Philip in turn told Jesus.

Jesus replied, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24I tell you
the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a
single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25The man who loves his life will
lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My
Father will honor the one who serves me.

Announcements
CROSSED is meeting tonight from 6:15 to 8:30. We hope you’ll use this
time to connect with God and connect with others. Teens in grades 7-12 are
invited to join in the faith, fun, and fellowship time. Tonight’s activities are
“Battles against Gravity”.
CROSSED members are also invited to serve by canvassing for Easter on Saturday March
28. We will be signing up as two or three teams with the goal to “out canvass” our
other CROSSED friends. Please let us know if you can canvass so we can get team
apparel ready! Signup sheet is on the CROSSED board.
Solid Grounds Bible Study will meet on Tuesday at 9:00AM. Everyone is
invited to attend!
MOMs is meeting this Wednesday from 8:15-10AM. M.O.Ms meets
weekly on Wednesday mornings through the month of April. Fellowship
begins at 8:15, followed by bible study from 8:45-10:00am. Come when you
can. Childcare is provided. All moms and their children welcome! Come
meet other moms who face the same parenting challenges you do. Questions? Contact

Jesus’ Lambs at Peace is getting ready for our Open House on Tuesday,
March 31. from 6-8 p.m. and we hope you will be able to come and help! It is
always an exciting event meeting new families, getting to know returning
families and having fun with all of the activities. If your family, children included, would
like to be a part of that evening, please call Joslyn at 385-77512. We also need help
with food. We could use bars, cookies or a special spring or Easter treat for the

Music and More 2015 is on the calendar! Last year's trial run of this event
was a great success, and we are looking forward to its encore this year. So set
aside Sunday, May 31, to come and enjoy an hour or so of entertainment and
socializing. Beginning at 3:00PM, you will be treated to a showcase of “homegrown” talent, presented by members of Peace Lutheran. The program is intended to
focus primarily on music of all kinds, but non-musical entries (the “More” of Music and
More) also are encouraged. The latter might include poetry or essay readings, storytelling, even visual art—such as photography, sketching, painting, etc. If you have a
talent you'd like to share, please contact Susan Lepak (386-0853;

Sunday, March 29 at 2 p.m. in Trinity Chapel - Composing Art: A Composition &
Conducting Recital. A plethora of musicians will perform newly composed music by
senior Annalise Tecken. Selections include a traditional spiritual and a Renaissance echo
song. Hear a 29 voice choir, Bethany's very own String Band, a harpist, flautist, pianists,
organist, and a percussionist. This recital is free and open to the public with a reception
to follow in the YFAC.
