new state officers and take advantage of educational opportunities. Please ensure that each

affordable and the hostess chapters have worked hard to ensure you have a great experience on
campus.

Oregon in the Spotlight!
Oregon is honored to test a potential new membership tool for local chapters. This tool will be a
webinar PowerPoint and script developed by our Northwest Regional Membership team. Oregon
will test the product with a limited number of “Pilot” chapters and report back to the NRM
team. Later this summer this new membership tool will be introduced at Regional Membership
Summits.
Oregon is also proud to announce their participation in an International project to review Official
Visits. Organizer, Sandy Sothern, and organizers from nine other states are working directly with
International Organizer Brenda Atchison to collect data and evaluate the process.
Nominating Committee Slate 2015-2016
These nominees will be presented for balloting at the June convention:

Leding, DQ; Treasurer Sonia Lamoreaux, GH and Secretary Marilyn Staples-Sundt, DU.

training prepared her to be an elementary school teacher. She has been a member of P.E.O.
since 1976, serving in many chapter offices, committees and two Oregon State Chapter
Committees. Marilyn and her BIL, Greg have one daughter and enjoy traveling. Marilyn’s hobbies
include; quilting, gardening, cooking, reading and spending time with family.
Results Chapter J Proposed Amendment
Ninety percent of Oregon State Chapters responded with their vote on whether to send to
convention for consideration the amendment proposed by Chapter J. The 2/3 majority affirmative
vote was not reached and the amendment will not be brought to convention. Oregon can be proud
of the large response to this proposal, chapters like to have a voice!

state officer. Corresponding secretaries will receive their release letters no later than April 15.

Education Highlights
Marguerite and Oregon Scholarships
The state scholarship committee has now completed evaluation of the 104 applications for
Marguerite awards submitted by 62 chapters. The deadline for Oregon Scholarship applications is
April 1 and the scholarship committee will begin reviewing them the week of April 6. Scholarship
awards will be finalized in early May and chapters can expect notification of their candidate(s)
