There will be a movie showing of The Book Thief afterschool this Friday, April 24th in Room 303. It is hosted by the PHN Book Club, and all are welcome and encouraged to attend to enjoy great company, snacks, and film. The Book Thief will be shown after school on Friday in Miss V’s Room (303) this Friday from 2:30-5 pm. The Port Huron Northern JV girls soccer team defeated Lamphere High School 50. Emily Sayers led the team with a hat-trick. Delaney Riley and Julia Foltz also scored a goal. Kaitlyn Humphrey, Allie Sanderson, Makenna Fockler and Julia Foltz finished the game with one assist each. Kayla Klett recorded two saves in the shutout victory. The Huskies are 4-1 and will return to action on Wednesday at Lake Shore. The varsity girls softball team lost to gross point north last night 7-1. Taylor Ainsworth was the losing pitcher striking out fl4 batters and walking none. Kathryn Brooks, Hayleigh Anglebrandt, and Brooklyn Elsholz contributed one hit each. The girls return today with a home double header against L'anse Creuse North The freshman girls softball team lost a close one to L'Anse Creuse North 19-18 ... Abby McClelland lead the team with 4 hits. Sammi Kocis had 2 hits, and Taytum Reed added a triple. Nice job ladies! The mens track team fell to Utica high school yesterday. Winning events for the huskies were Colby Nabozny in the 110 and 300 hurdles and matt Thomas in the 800. Also scoring points for the huskies were Mike Burrell, Bradley Mallory, Cameron Petrossi, Noah Steinhauer, Mitch Koppinger, Steve Mason, and the pole vault group of Ryan Hunt, Bren Prout and Ethan Heine Port Huron Northern's performing arts classes would like to welcome everyone to attend their play titled Chain Reaction. Chain reaction is a powerful play that shows the impact our actions have on others. The play will be performed at 9:45am and 7pm on Thursday April 23rd and 12:30 and 7pm on Friday, April 24th. Matinee shows are free and evening shows are $2 The senior song auditions will be in two weeks. Please see Mrs. Houle in room 201 to sign up for auditions and to pick up a copy of the lyrics. The song will not be performed in its entirety, so it's important for your group to practice the version we will be using in the ceremony. If you been awarded a college scholarship, please get the information to Mrs. Maxwell. She is currently compiling the list of scholarships to be read at the Senior Assembly. We will only be announcing the scholarships that you will be accepting. Be sure to get that information to Mrs. Maxwell as soon as you get it. The deadline is Tuesday, May 26th. There are a variety of jobs that we can use help with including, creating the flowers out of clay, gluing wooden stems or simply adding paper leaves to the stems. No artistic talent required! We have several dates set up for art making fun – stop on by Mrs. Hussey’s room, 506 and join in! After school dates: Wednesday, April 22rd, Room 506, 3:00 – 6:00 pm Wednesday, April 29nd, Room 506, 3:00 – 6:00 pm We want YOU to perform at the 2nd annual PHN OSCARS this year! Auditions to perform at the PHN OSCARS will be held in the Choir room on Wednesday, April 22 right after school! The sign-up sheet to audition will be right outside Mr. Black’s room, room 314. ATTENTION SENIOR NHS members: If you are interested in applying for the National Honor Society Scholarship you can pick up an application in the Main Office in the NHS Box. Seniors, have you been accepted to a University, Trade School or Armed Forces for next school year….. If so bring in a copy of your acceptance letter to Mrs. Madley. These letters will be on Display soon. Over 1.5 million people were diagnosed with some form of cancer last year and of all the people that were diagnosed, over half-a-million lost the battle last year. For the next few weeks, our leadership class will be selling footprints at all 3 lunches. You can donate one-dollar to help raise money for the Relay for Life Movement. This movement raises millions of dollars each year for the American Cancer Society in order to conduct research and better the lives of those who have been diagnosed with cancer. Help us raise money for a great cause! PHN Leadership Class Relay for Life Committee. Scheduling for classes is right around the corner. If you have a job in retail, food services or office work and will be a junior or senior next school year, you are eligible to leave school early, get paid and receive credits. For more information, see Mrs. Peattie in the school store during fourth hour. Information packets are available in the counseling office for any student who is interested in becoming a Teen Volunteer at McLaren Port Huron Hospital. . This is for the 2015 summer session and all forms need to be turned in to the McLaren Volunteer Office by Friday, May 8th. It’s that time of year! The 2nd Annual PHN Oscars will be Saturday May 2nd and there will be a senior tribute at the end of the show! Senior’s please send pictures of you and your friends to Erica McClelland at [email protected] and they will be shown during the Oscars Senior Tribute presentation.
