Summer Literacy Institute, “Building Bridges: Readers and Writers
Together”
The Summer Literacy Institute, “Building Bridges: Readers & Writers Together,” for K-12
educators will be offered June 8-10, 2015. The three day conference will feature international
literacy leaders Debbie Miller, Penny Kittle and Patrick Allen. This literacy event is hosted by
Prairie Spirit School Division, with support from the Ministry of Education, and will be held in

LIVE Arts in March and April 2015
LIVE Arts supports the Saskatchewan Arts Education curriculum with programs on visual arts,
drama, music and dance. Broadcasts are delivered by professional artists who engage students in
grades 1 to 9 from across the province with an interactive and instructive learning

Agriculture in the
Classroom - Saskatchewan
(AITC-SK) has lots of
upcoming programs and events to help students across Saskatchewan gain a better
understanding of agriculture. All of their programs and resources are curriculum-linked,
developed in consultation with Educators, interactive and free to teachers.
In order to better communicate with the education community, they have started
creating electronic newsletters. Provided below are links to their March newsletters

Western Development Museum
Students will learn about Saskatchewan's participation in the world wars, our
contributions, and about life on the home front. The in-museum Discovery Box program
focuses on the home front and the effects of war on the people of Saskatchewan. Inclassroom lesson plans discuss how young people helped war efforts and the experience
of Aboriginal people during and after the First World War.
The WDM is also pleased to share with you the Stories of Courage: Saskatchewan
Second World War Veterans Remember videos and series of lessons plans to
supplement the videos from the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport.

The Western Development Museum - Moose Jaw is pleased to be offering Smarter
Science Better Building from April 13 to 28 to Grade 7 classes. This teacher-led program makes

2015 Red Cross
Day of Pink in Saskatchewan
Wear pink on April 1, 2015 and show the world that you can imagine
no bullying. It takes a year-round, whole community approach. But
together we can help stop bullying behaviour.
Red Cross Day of Pink is a day to bring awareness to bullying issues in Saskatchewan and
encourage others to join the movement.
