NEW CENTER SPOTLIGHT
PINSTACK PLAN:
BOWL AND BITE
One is up and running in West Plano,
Texas; another is eyed for Fort Worth.
BY BOB JOHNSON
THE CONCEPT BEHIND the new entertainment destination
in West Plano, Texas, is explained in two words on the venue’s large exterior sign. Those words: 1) Bowl, and 2) Bite.
The name of the facility is Pinstack,
and while bowling lanes anchor the
entertainment offerings, they are
complemented by an array of attractions
that will keep even the most energetic
of young people occupied — and asking
their parents to dig a little deeper into
their wallets. These include a rockclimbing wall, a high-ropes course, a
two-level laser tag arena, a hundred
video games and simulator technology.
Pinstack encompasses 50,000 square
feet, much of it devoted to a full-service
restaurant, a full bar and a private
dining area. The chef-inspired menu is

Pinstack looks imposing, there is
a reason for that — 50,000 reasons, to be exact — the number
of square feet the establishment
comprises.
creative, and plans call for it to change
with the seasons.
Spring offerings include Signature
Macaroni and Cheese Pops with tomato
basil sauce, shaved Parmesan and fresh
parsley; the Pinstack Veggie Burger with
baby spinach and mozzarella cheese;
the Havana Hog Panini with smoked
ham, pulled pork, Gruyere and jalapeno
Dijon; and the Sriracha Chicken Pizza
with grilled chicken, Colby jack, Sriracha and bleu cheese drizzle.
As one local reviewer put it: “For
being a bowling alley, the menu doesn’t
look bad…”
There is a fairly lengthy, if safe,
wine list for a “bowling alley” (the
Patz & Hall Chardonnay and the J.
Lohr Cabernet Sauvignon are sleepers,
especially if you’re not familiar with
those brands), but the adult-beverage
emphasis is on signature cocktails.
Among them: the Spaniard Sour (Patron
Reposado tequila, Jalapeno Infused
Licor 43 and fresh lime juice), and the
German Chocolate Martini (Godiva
chocolate liqueur, Parrot Bay Coconut
Rum and Smirnoff Black Cherry Vodka).

Blow Your Stack: The bowling
lanes anchor the entertainment
at Pinstack, but the arcade,
which includes a rock-climbing
wall and a laser-tag arena,
offers enough to keep any kid
occupied.
Given the well-conceptualized foodand-beverage operation, one could conclude that bowling is an afterthought. It
is not. The 28 lanes are divided into two
sections, including an eight-lane VIP
area. And while the amenities make for
a family-friendly vibe, the design work
and furniture finishes are upscale, providing a seamless transition to a 21-andover environment when desired.
Pinstack is operated by Entertainment Properties Group Inc., the same
company behind the iT’Z family fun
centers, which include bowling and
unlimited buffets among their offerings.
That company’s Chief Operating Officer,
Jason Prowell, said EPG expects to open
a second Pinstack location at the Alliance Town Center in Fort Worth, Texas,
next year.
