AIM:
To maximise productivity and market position of primary
industries and allied industries to provide economic benefits to
the Region.
FUNDING: $5m (Round One committed $1.8m)
OPERATION: Until 2016-17
ROUND TWO: Close 29 May 2015 at 5pm (ACST)

OUTCOMES:
The IRSP investment will:
• Improve productivity and water use efficiency through new
technologies
• Improve on-farm risk management skills and technologies to manage
projected climatic changes and adapt to the Basin Plan
• Improve the market position of South Australian crops by meeting
market access requirements

• $0.198m (SARDI) - Almond salt sensitivity
• $0.313m (SARDI) - Regional assessment of climate and water risks and
opportunities for SA irrigated industries
• $0.369m (Adelaide University) – Sustaining irrigation and soil condition
• $0.430m (SARDI) - Managing almond production in a variable and
changing climate
• $0.453m (SARDI) - Longevity and sustained performance of rootstock in
Lower Murray horticulture, viticulture and citrus

Changes from Round One

Stream One = Up to $100,000 in funding

Stream Two = Above $100,000 up to $500,000 in funding

funding agreement (previously required at time of application)
4. Co-contributions can include Australian Government funding

Round Two is looking for projects that align with at least one of the following focus areas:

Market research for new opportunities for primary production in the Region;

New food opportunities for the Region;

Mechanisms to utilise waste products to create new food or products or other production
enhancements that could be implemented in the Region;

Improved processing systems to those currently located in the Region;

Adaptation of established businesses within the Region to better manage regional risk factors;

Optimisation of regional business systems to reduce input costs and increase production output;

Diversification into new industries, markets, products and/or business models that could be adopted
in the region; and

Innovation of new technology to benefit regional agricultural production, water management and/or
business management.

Round Two projects must also be associated with at least one of the objectives of the
redeveloped Loxton Research Centre (LRC):

bringing together industry knowledge, ideas, science and technology to revitalise and grow the
regional economy through new technology and enhanced local analytical capability;

facilitate training courses in business skills, environmental management and analytical services;

encourage new industry sectors; and

facilitate and enable growth in exports.
