Since it was established in 2006, the Fondation has
contributed over $1,500,000 to various Place des Arts
programs that support access-to-the-arts and artistic
creation.
The Fondation de la Place des Arts’ mission
• Free cultural activities
istosupporttheSociétédelaPlacedesArtsin
fulfillingitsartisticvocation.Itfosterspublicaccess
toandawarenessofthevariousperformingarts—
particularlyamongyoungaudiences.Bysupporting
thedisseminationandeducationactivitiesPlace
desArtsundertakesinthisrespect,theFondation
contributestopromotingartisticandculturallifein
Québec.
TheEspaceculturelGeorges-Émile-Lapalmeis
auniqueculturalvenueopentooneandall,
featuringprogrammingwithagoalofraising
audienceawareness.Over230 free activitiesare
presentedannually,drawingtens of thousands of
people,includingagreatnumberofyoungpeople.
Youth and the arts
TheFondationdelaPlacedesArts’philanthropic
effortsrestontheconvictionthatartenrichesyoung
people’sapproachtolife.Byexploringworldsbased
oncreativity,imagination,andaesthetics,theyopen
themselvesuptonewlanguagesthatleadtonew
waysofaddressingtheirownworldsanddeveloping
theirownpersonalities.Exposuretoartcanresult
inadesiretotakeupthechallengeofartistic
trainingortobecomemoreintimatelyfamiliarwith
thisworldofemotions.
To love art, you must be exposed to it
Todevelopaloveofartandmakeitpartofyour
life,youmustfirstbemadeawareofit.Thisisthe
reasoningbehindtheFondation’sdecisionto
supportPlacedesArts’access-to-the-artsprograms,
whicheachyearincludecloseto500showsand
eventsthatdrawtensofthousandsofspectators.
• Free or affordably priced youth programs
Eachyear,theyouthprogramsreachalarge
audience,includingover6,000 childrenthrough
thePDAJuniorseries—whichfeaturesavariety
ofaffordablypricedshowsfor4to12year-olds—,
andnearly1,000 children from underprivileged
backgroundswhoareinvitedtoattendvariousfree
shows,therebyexperiencingPlacedesArtsforthe
firsttime.
• Special projects
TheFondationdelaPlacedesArtsalsolendsits
supporttoprojectsthatencourageartisticcreation
dedicatedtoraisingawarenessamongvarious
clienteles,including18to30year-olds,andoften
featuringtalentedyoungartists—actors,musicians,
composers,andperformers.

oftheSociétédelaPlacedesArts’programs

Sinceitwasestablished,theeventhasallowed
theFondationtoraiseover$1,000,000.
