After School Girls Club Facilitator
6+ hours per week - $17 per hour – April 23rd to June 23, 2015
Place Maillardville Community Centre, a registered charity serving the Maillardville
neighbourhood in Coquitlam, is looking for someone with initiative and expertise to facilitate an
After School Girls Club Program at Maillard Middle School for indigenous youth ages 10 to 14
years of age. Beginning April 23rd, the program will run 2 days per week for 9 weeks. You must
be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. There will be additional
hours throughout the program to supervise a first aid class and to lead an exciting group field
trip. There is a possibility that this position will be carried over to deliver a similar program in
the Fall of 2015.
We are looking for a dynamic, kind, and qualified facilitator to engage a group of 10 female
youth in a variety of creative team building activities, including cooking, and organizing a
fundraising event. As a mentor, your goal will be to develop the participants’ leadership skills
and improved self-esteem, through resume and job skills preparation, nutrition education, out
sourced self-defense awareness training, cultural art projects, and more…
The Facilitator is responsible for delivering an engaging, fun, educational and safe program for all
participants, and ensuring the smooth daily operation and success of this program.
Qualifications:









Experience in a leading, organizing and planning youth programs.
Must possess excellent group facilitation skills, and come with a flexible and positive
attitude every day.
Knowledge of indigenous issues effecting youth would be an asset.
Must be able to make programs fun and engaging, and be a mentor to participants.
Must be diplomatic and able to communicate in an effective, professional and friendly
manner with youth, parents, supervisors and our program partners.
Must be able to maintain program discipline and ensure a safe and secure environment
for the youth.
Must have current First Aid/CPR, Food Safe, & willing to have criminal record check.
Must have access to a car.
Education: Currently possess or working towards a diploma in related field of study.
