MINERAL OIL vs SYNTHETIC OIL
For Your Car
The main difference between mineral oils
and synthetic oils is how they are made.
Mineral oils originate from crude oils extracted from the
earth. They then go through a refining process to have
their impurities removed.
Synthetic oils also originate from crude oil, but are then
put through a number of chemical reaction processes in a
factory, and are specially engineered to withstand and
perform under extreme temperatures.
In 1971, Motul developed the first 100% synthetic lubricant made from esters of vegetable
origin and drawing on aeronautical technology.

Mineral Oil vs Synthetic Oil
The above graphic representation shows how the chemical reaction
treatment process to develop a synthetic oil produces a much more
consistent product with better protection qualities than the ordinary
refining process of mineral oils.
Benefits of Synthetic Oils
Synthetic oils out perform Mineral oils
1: Flow
-
Synthetic oil can flow more easily at cold engine
start, protecting your engine faster.
2: Longevity
-
Synthetic oils last longer. Most mineral oils have a
short drain interval of 5,000km where as most
quality Synthetic oils ca have a drain interval up to
25 000km.
3: Protection
-
Synthetic oils offer better protection and improved
performance for longer.
Performance Comparison
The right oil change makes
all the difference
Mineral oils and sythetic oils perform differently
in a hot engine?
Synthetic vs Mineral
-
You could compare mineral oil to butter; in a hot pan it will quickly melt, start smoking and
leaving cooking deposits. It simply does not last long under high temperatures.
-
You can compare synthetic oil to vegetable oil; under similar temperatures it does not
smoke or leave deposits, coating the surface. It withstands higher temperatures.
