CONTEST RULES SONiC 102.9 GRILLED CHEESE INVITATIONAL 2015 Contest (the “Contest”) 1. CONTEST PERIOD & CONTEST SPONSOR. (a) The Contest is brought to you by the following entity (the “Contest Sponsor”): SONiC 102.9 102.9, a radio station owned and operated by Rogers Broadcasting Limited (“Rogers” or “SONiC 102.9”). ND (b) The contest period (the “Contest Period”) starts at 7:00 AM on March 2 , 2014 and th continues until Tuesday, March 17 , 2014 at 11:59 PM (the “Contest Closing Date”). All times are in Mountain Standard Time. 2. HOW TO ENTER. (a) No purchase necessary. (b) You may enter the Contest in one of two ways: i) To enter, visit www.sonic1029.com during the Contest Period. Complete the entry ballot found in the ‘Contests’ section in full and tell us in 100 words or less why you are a grilled cheese enthusiast, and submit your grilled cheese recipe (no word limit). Each entry form fully completed and duly submitted, containing one (1) essay submission and one (1) recipe submission, is referred to as an “entry”. By entering the Contest, each entrant confirms that he or she: owns all intellectual property rights in the entry, including copyright in the essay portion of the entry; grants the Contest Sponsor a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free perpetual licence to reproduce and to distribute the entry, in whole or in part and in any form or format, including on air; and waives all moral rights in respect of the entry; and releases the Contest Sponsor from any claims arising from the distribution of the entry, whether over the air or otherwise, and whether in any other form or medium now or hereafter created. The Contest Sponsor reserve the right to refuse any entry in their absolute discretion. -ORii) During the Contest Period, mail a 100-word letter explaining why you would like to win this Contest, together with your name, address, day and evening telephone numbers, email address, age, the Contest name, and your Grilled Cheese Recipe to the attention of “SONiC Grilled Cheese Invitational” at 5915 Gateway Blvd., Edmonton, AB T6H 2H3 for one (1) entry into the Contest. Mailin entries must be postmarked by the Contest Closing Date and received by th Rogers by March 18 , 2015. One entry per postage-stamped envelope. (c) ENTRY LIMIT: Only one (1) entry per person. (d) Any attempt or suspected attempt to enter the Contest in a fashion not authorized by these rules shall be deemed to be tampering and will void all of your entries. Entries that are late, lost, stolen, false, illegible, damaged, misdirected, mutilated, garbled or Rogers Media Contest Rules /v2 2 incomplete, altered or otherwise irregular or that do not conform with or satisfy any or all of these Contest rules will be void. Only entries received by Rogers will be considered. Proof of entry transmission shall not constitute proof of receipt. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right to refuse any entry in its absolute discretion. (e) Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. 3. ELIGIBILITY. (a) The Contest is open to individuals who are 18 years of age or older as of the date of entry and who reside in the province of Alberta, within 100 km of 5915 Gateway Blvd., Edmonton, Alberta (as determined by www.google.ca/maps) and within the terrestrial broadcast radius of the station. For greater certainty, “within the terrestrial broadcast radius of the station” means that you have to be able to hear the station’s broadcast from your residence, without recourse to a satellite radio, the Internet, cable television, an application, or any other non-traditional listening device or tool. (b) Employees, officers and directors of any Contest Sponsor, its affiliates or representatives, any Contest suppliers and judges, and those with whom the foregoing individuals reside are not eligible to participate in this Contest. This Contest is not open to individuals who have previously won an on-air contest on SONiC 102.9 102.9 in the 30 days prior to the start of this Contest. 4. PRIZE DESCRIPTION. a) Entrants are eligible to win one (1) Grand Prize consisting of 50 pounds of cheese or gift certificates amounting to 50 pounds of cheese, good for use at potential prize sponsors’ location. Prize subject to change. Total approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $500.00 CDN. Actual retail value will vary based on current market and store value. b) Prize must be accepted as awarded and may not be transferred or exchanged absent the consent of the Contest Sponsor, which consent may be withheld in its absolute discretion. Contest prizes may not be exactly as advertised. The Contest Sponsor reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event of the unavailability, for whatever the reason, of any advertised prize in whole or in part. c) Except as expressly warranted herein, any Contest prize is provided “as is” without further warranty of any kind. D) DRAWS. (a) All entrants will be subjected to a selection process by a panel of SONiC 102.9 (Rogers th Broadcasting) representatives on March 19 , 2015 at approximately 10:00 am (MDT) at 5915 Gateway Blvd in Edmonton, Alberta. (b) Three contestants will be selected after the deadline date and contacted within 24 hours of Contest close. (c) All selected contestants must be able to attend the SONiC Grilled Cheese Invitational st (“The Event”) on March 21 from 3pm-4pm MDT at the Home & Garden Show at the Edmonton Expo Centre. Rogers Media Contest Rules /v2 3 (d) All contestants will be given $50 to obtain ingredients by themselves. Any supplies over that amount is the responsibility of the contestant. Cooking utensils will be provided by Home & Garden Show. Contestants must submit their cooking materials list to SONiC before Friday, March 20 at noon. (e) At the Event, the contestants will be cooking in a timed competition. Contestants will cook their recipe they originally submitted. All competition details will be given prior to the competition start time. (f) If a contestant cannot attend, another contestant will be selected from the legitimate submitted entries. (g) A selected entrant will be disqualified and required to forfeit any claim to the Contest prize if he or she cannot be reached within three (3) business days following the first attempt of contact; or the terms set forth in these Contest rules are not adhered to. Decisions and rulings of the Contest Sponsor and/or its representatives are final and binding without appeal in all matters related to this Contest and the awarding of a prize. (h) To be declared a winner, a selected entrant must correctly answer without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question; be in full compliance with these Contest rules; and, in the discretion of the Contest Sponsor, sign and return a release of liability and consent to publicity form (the “Release Form”) and any other documentation as may reasonably be required by the Contest Sponsor in its absolute discretion. The winner’s travel companion will also be required to sign and return a Release Form. (i) A selected entrant may be required to provide proof of identification to the Contest Sponsor when claiming a prize or otherwise in connection with this Contest to facilitate the Contest Sponsor’s accurate identification of a Contest winner. (j) If a selected entrant does not fulfill the conditions set out in these rules, or declines or forfeits a Contest prize, the Contest Sponsor reserve the right, in its absolute discretion, to cancel the Contest prize, to select another entrant, or to donate such prize to a charity of its choosing. E) RELEASE OF LIABILITY / CONSENT TO PUBLICITY. By accepting a Contest prize, the winner: confirms compliance with these Contest rules; acknowledges that the prize is not transferable (except as provided for herein and only at the Contest Sponsor’s absolute discretion) and must be accepted as awarded or otherwise except where stated; consents to the use of his/her name, city of residence, entry, voice, statements, photographs and/or other likenesses for publicity, advertising or informational purposes in any medium or format carried out by the Contest Sponsor and/or its advertising agencies regarding the Contest or the prize, without further notice or compensation; and releases the Contest Sponsor, its affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies, the suppliers of materials or services related to the Contest, and all of its respective shareholders, directors, officers, employees and agents (collectively the “Releasees”) from and against all liability in connection with the Contest and/or the awarding and/or use of any Contest prize. F) LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. The Releasees do not assume any responsibility and each entrant releases the Releasees from any and all claims, actions, damages, demands and liabilities of whatever nature or kind Rogers Media Contest Rules /v2 4 arising out of or in connection with the entrant's participation or attempted participation in the Contest and any Contest prize, including, without limitation the administration of the Contest, the selection and confirmation of any Contest winners, and the arranging, awarding and use of any Contest prize. G) PRIVACY. By entering the Contest and for the sole purpose of Rogers’ administration of the Contest, you consent to the collection of your personal information by Rogers in accordance with each of its privacy policy at http://www.rogersmedia.com/privacy. In connection with prize fulfillment, Rogers may be required to provide your personal information to a third party. You consent to such disclosure of your personal information in accordance with the foregoing, and you acknowledge and agree that, should your personal information be provided to any such third party, your information will be subject to that third party’s privacy policy and information handling standards and practices. Rogers will not send informational or marketing communications to entrants, unless entrants expressly consent to receive such communications through an opt-in mechanism. Usually, these informational or marketing communications will be sent via electronic means, such as by email. Entrants may at any time opt out of receiving such materials by following the unsubscribe instructions provided at the bottom of any of these communications. Please refer to the Rogers Media Privacy Policy at http://www.rogersmedia.com/privacy for information on how Rogers collects, uses, and discloses personal information. H) GENERAL. (a) LAWS AND RULES. This Contest will be run in accordance with these Contest rules, which shall be subject to amendment by the Contest Sponsor without notice or liability to you. Entrants must comply with these Contest rules and will be deemed to have received and understood these rules by participating in this Contest. The terms of this Contest, as set out in these rules, are not subject to amendment or counter-offer, except as set out herein. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. (b) CANCEL AND AMEND. The Contest Sponsor reserve the right to cancel, modify, or suspend this Contest or to amend the Contest rules at any time and in any way, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever. Without limiting the foregoing, if for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, for example as a result of tampering or infection by computer virus, bug, corruption, security breach, or other cause beyond the Contest Sponsor’ reasonable control, the Contest Sponsor reserve the right to cancel or suspend the Contest and/or conduct a random draw from all previously received eligible entries. (c) CONDUCT. The Contest Sponsor reserve the right, in its absolute discretion, to disqualify without notice any entrant that they find to be: violating the Contest rules; tampering or attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or any Contest website; acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person; or attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest. Any attempt by an entrant or any other individual to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest may be a violation of criminal and/or civil laws. Should any such attempt be made, the Contest Sponsor reserve the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal Rogers Media Contest Rules /v2 5 prosecution, and to ban or disqualify an entrant from this Contest and any future contests.
