Are you motivated to lose weight?

Are you motivated to lose weight?
I am a PhD research student in the Institute of Psychological
Sciences at the University of Leeds. I am looking for volunteers
to participate in a study investigating a new type of weight loss
program.
As a participant, you will:
 be delivered a weight loss program over 8 weeks in which
you will be provided with evidence-based materials to
help you lose weight
 be set a weight loss goal to be achieved over the first 4
weeks of the program, and another weight loss goal to be
achieved over the final 4 weeks of the program
 be required to pay a cash deposit (the value of which will
be your choice), which will be refunded depending on
your achievement of the weight loss goal
The weight loss goal to be achieved over 4 weeks will be equal
to 2.28% of your current weight, up to maximum of 4 kg. This
is based on safe weight loss guidelines.
To help you get an idea of how much this will be, below are
some examples of the weight loss goal that an individual would
be set if they weighed various amounts at the start of the
study:
Weight at start of study
Weight loss goal over 4 weeks
75kg (165lbs)
95kg (209lbs)
105kg (231lbs)
115kg (253lbs)
125kg (275lbs)
1.71kg (3.76lbs)
2.17kg (4.77lbs)
2.39kg (5.27lbs)
2.62kg (5.77lbs)
2.85kg (6.27lbs)
To participate in this study, you must:
 Be motivated to lose weight
 Have a Body mass Index above 25 (you can calculate your
BMI at: www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmicalc.htm)
(A BMI between 25 – 29.9 is considered overweight, and a
BMI over 30 is considered obese. If your BMI indicates
that you are only slightly overweight and so would only
need to lose a few pounds, that is fine, the weight loss
program will be tailored to your current weight)
