The Billet Experience - “You can make a difference”
Become a host family for a Tauros player
Minotauros Billet (Host) Families play a vital role in our organizations success both on
and off the ice. These special people open their homes and hearts to our players,
providing a place to live and an environment they can thrive in while they pursue their
dream of reaching a higher level of hockey.
Host families invite these players, aged 16-20, into their homes to become part of their
family for eight months of the year. Arriving in Minot in late August and potentially
staying to the end of April with the post season, the players take an active role in many
aspects of family life with their Billets and are expected to respect the host family rules
and the rules of the club. The values and principles for success that are essential to
become a member of the Tauros will be demanded at the rink, in the home, in school and
in the community.
The Billet experience will truly be rewarding, with a unique connection that lasts a
lifetime. Players often keep in contact with their Billets long after they are done playing,
keeping them updated on their family and life’s accomplishments. If you ask any young
player that has played away from home, their fondest memories likely include their
Billets.
“You Can Make a Difference” in a young man’s journey in life and be part of the
Tauros Family by becoming a “Host Family”.
To become a Tauros Host Family, please fill out the attached Host Family Application
and return it to Charlsie Burud. The application gives the team information to ensure the
best possible fit, with a good pairing of player and family. We only ask that you provide
the comforts of home with a separate bedroom and daily meals for each player. The
Billet family is compensated with a “Billet Package” and $325.00 monthly per player for
grocery expenses. Players will provide their own transportation and cell phones. In
compliance with NAHL rules, all housing families must pass a criminal background
check.
The Tauros are always looking for both short and long term Host Families. If you have
questions or are interested in becoming a Host Family, please contact Charlsie Burud.
