Since 1970, Police Week has been observed in May to coincide with Peace Officers Memorial Day, recognized internationally on May 15. This year’s theme, Discover Policing, invites everyone to discover the many ways our police service is working to keep our community safe. Police Week also encourages citizens to consider a rewarding and fulfilling career in law enforce This year, there will be day time and evening events planned and presented by members of the London Police Service. Community Events: Monday, May 11 – Elementary student chosen to be “Chief for the Day”. Tuesday, May 12 – Secondary School group closed presentation – One Police Officer’s Career Story. Thursday, May 14 and Friday, May 15 – 1-3 p.m. at Cherry Hill Mall, 301 Oxford Street West. Mall display and presentation on break and enter prevention, ATAC RAIDS information and Crime Prevention programs available through the London Police Service. Information Sessions - 7:00p.m.-8:30 p.m. Location: London Police Headquarters, 601 Dundas St., London Each night a specialized unit within the London Police Service will host an information session as listed: Monday May 11 – Forensic Identification Section Tuesday May 12 – Recruiting Wednesday May 13 – ATAC-RAIDS and Crime Prevention Thursday May 14 - Emergency Services – Emergency Response Section, K9, Marine Unit, LAV, Traffic and Command Vehicle – This will be a static display at the front of the 601 Dundas Street. Friday May 15 – Town Hall Meeting – Senior Officers Police Week provides an opportunity for members of our service to connect with the citizens we serve and showcase what police officers and other personnel do to contribute to community safety and well-being.
