DANCE INFORMATION PACKET

The Eight Grade Dance is coming!
The dance will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 7pm to 10pm.
Tickets go on sale on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 to Monday, April 27, 2015.
Tickets will be sold only during 8th grade lunch at the concession stand or front office.
Each student must have their Davis Middle School ID to purchase their own ticket.
The dress code in the student handbook will be strictly enforced.
NO LIMOS are allowed at the dance.
You must have your ID to enter the dance.
ONLY DMS 8TH Grade students are allowed in the dance.
*LifeTouch Studios will be the photographer for the dance. A picture package order form is
attached if you wish to purchase pictures at the dance. You may also go to lifetouch.com to
download the order form, pay for your order, or to check out other photogift information.

Dance Rules for DMS Students
1. Dances are restricted to students currently enrolled at DMS. No one who is not a DMS student
will be permitted to attend. DMS students may not invite guests that do not attend DMS to
come to the dance.
2. When purchasing tickets for the dance, students must show their official DMS picture ID
card.
3. Students may purchase one ticket only. Students may not purchase tickets for anyone other
than him or herself.
4. Ticket sales will be done on an advance basis only. There will be NO tickets sold at the door.
5. Students must clear any debts (media center, cafeteria, or otherwise) before they can purchase
a dance ticket.
6. All regular school rules will be followed as they would for any other part of the school day.
7. Slam dancing, bumping, dance circles, doing the “Train,” or any other unsafe or inappropriate
activity will not be permitted.
8. Students will be expected to immediately follow the directions of any adult.
9. Students who do not comply with directions will be placed in the ISS room until the end of the
dance. This is your warning. No refunds will be given if you are placed in ISS during the
dance.
10. Students will make arrangements for rides in advance. This dance will end at 10:00pm and
rides must be waiting.

DRESS CODE GUIDELINES
April 14, 2015
Dear 8th Grade Parents/Guardians,
This letter is being sent home in regards to the annual 8th Grade Spring Dance with the DRESS CODE for the
students and the DISCIPLINE GUIDELINES. This is an exciting time and the students and teachers look
forward to this big event.
The attire for the dance is semi-formal. There is a standard dress code for this event. The dress code is as
follows:
Young Women
 Shoulders must be covered by their dress, a sweater or a shawl

Front and back of dress must be cut to a level that is consistent with the daily school dress code

Skirt or bottom of dress must be KNEE LENGTH
Young Men
 Shirt and dress slacks

Must tuck shirts inside of slacks (part of daily school dress code)

DISCIPLINE GUIDELINES – VERY IMPORTANT
The following discipline guidelines for 8th graders will be in effect from Monday, April 13, 2015 until Friday,
May 1, 2015.
Students must demonstrate satisfactory behavior inside and outside of the classroom in the time leading
up to the dance. If a student displays behavior that has resulted in one of the following consequences
that may exclude him/her from attending the dance:
* In School Suspension
**Out of School Suspension
*Students who receive suspension assignments after the Dance Information Packets have been
distributed will be ineligible to attend the dance.
**In addition, students who reach these consequences after paying for the dance may or may not receive
a refund. Determination of refunds will be decided by an administrator on a case to case basis.

Student Council appreciate your support. Please read this carefully. This form must be signed by both the
student and parent. Return this page to your child’s homeroom teacher. It is our goal to make this dance a
memorable and enjoyable for all.

PARENT VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
Parent volunteers will be needed for chaperoning and clean up. A minimum of 10 chaperones are needed.
Duties descriptions include:
CHAPERONES: Chaperones will be needed to help out during the dance from 7pm-10pm. Chaperones will be
given duty posts, will collect tickets, will help with clean up during the dance, will help with keeping food and
drinks stocked, and will aid in dismissal after the dance.
CLEAN UP: Student council is responsible for all clean up after the dance. The clean up volunteers will be
responsible for moving tables, arranging the commons back in order after the dance. Custodial help will not
be available following the dance. Clean up includes sweeping and mopping. Clean up is from 10pm until
everything is clean and back in order!!!
