BACCALAUREATE CLASS OF 2015 CEREMONIES Baccalaureate ceremony is a student organized, spiritual, religious ceremony held a few days before graduation. It is a time to celebrate and embrace the foundational skills and family values that played and may continue to play an integral part in the graduates’ success. Graduates may sing, dance, act, and reflect upon all of their personal and academic accomplishments. Attendance optional. Sunday, May 17, 2015 | 4:00PM (Graduates arrive by 3:00PM) Rockdale County Auditorium | Rockdale County Auditorium is NOT Rockdale Career Academy. Rockdale County Auditorium is located in downtown Conyers at the following address: 903 Main Street ~ Olde Town Conyers Conyers, Georgia 30012 Attire Cap, Gown, Tassel, Stole. Dress Shoes required. (Please refrain from wearing honor cords to the baccalaureate ceremony). Student Speakers or Performers for Baccalaureate Interested candidates may see Mrs. Register in room 1216 to pick up an application packet. GRADUATION Saturday, May 23, 2015 | 8:00AM (Arrive by 6:30AM) Georgia International Horse Park GRADUATION PRACTICE SHS Gymnasium 9:00AM-12:00PM Thursday, May 21, 2015 (SPEAKERS ONLY) 9:00AM-Until Completion Friday, May 22, 2015 in the SHS Gymnasium (ALL Graduates) *Seniors should enter the school through the lower entrance of the gym. Speakers or performers for Graduation Valedictorian and Salutatorian will be expected to speak during the graduation ceremony. Candidates for Valedictorian and Salutatorian should plan to submit a well-prepared speech for graduation that has been approved by our principal, Ms. Bloodworth. Once the Valedictorian and Salutatorian have been named, these two students will present their prepared speeches during the 2015 Graduation Ceremony. Honor Graduates Honor graduate status is conferred upon any graduate candidate who has earned a 3.5 or higher GPA on the weighted scale for his/her high school career. Honor graduates will be announced at Graduation practice on Friday, May 22nd at the end of the rehearsal where honor cords will be distributed to the Honor Graduates for the Class of 2015. At the same time, the names of the valedictorian and salutatorian will be announced, and medallions awarded. Other honor cords or sashes will be awarded by the organization that is granting the honor. In order to be allowed to participate in the Baccalaureate and Graduation exercises, students must meet ALL requirements and rules for Graduation. GRADUATION CEREMONY All seniors should plan to arrive to the Horse Park, properly dressed, by 6:30am. Senior parking and meeting location information will be provided during the scheduled graduation practices provided above. Attire Cap and gown, Salem tassel with ’15 charm, SHS hood Young Ladies: knee length skirt/dress (skirt/dress hem should not be longer than your gown), black shoes, light -colored blouse. Young Men: black slacks, black socks, dark shoes, white-dress shirt, appropriate tie. Tickets and Seating The ceremony will be held outside at the Georgia International Horse Park. Therefore, tickets are NOT needed for admission to the Horse Park. You may enter the Horse Park beginning at 6:30 AM. Handicap seating will be available. INCLEMENT WEATHER DISCLOSER In the case of inclement weather, the graduation ceremony will be held in the Salem High School Gymnasium. In this case, each candidate will be issued four (4) graduation tickets only. We apologize in advance for this inconvenience, as we want to ensure each graduate’s immediate family members (parents/guardians), are accommodated first.
