magazine.” After less than a year out of
work, Vreeland is asked to be the head of
the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan
Museum of Art. Here she creates shows to
honor some of her favorite fashion icons like
“The World of Balenciaga” and “Vanity Fair.”

Patty Hearst is kidnapped at
age 19 by the Symbionese
Liberation Army. They brainwash
her and she helps them hold up
a bank in 1974. Her punishment
is controversial due to her situation
and her trial attracts the attention
of many newspapers.

Anne Klein in late 1960. When
Klein dies in 1974, Karan
becomes head designer of the house.

Diane von Furstenberg creates
the wrap dress which
promotes the working
women trend in clothing,
and soon becomes
