Klein High School DAILY BULLETIN Thursday, February 26, 2015 1. February is Black History Month! Each day during this month, we will feature a “Little Known Black History Fact” posted on the TV’s throughout the school via our new VBrick system, so check it out! STUCO will also be featuring an important person in Black History every Friday during Bearkat Den, so please join us in celebrating Black History Month. 2. This year, Klein High has the privilege of hosting the Klein German Fest! Come and join the Klein High German Club for an evening full of German food, music, and culture! The entire community is invited! Please note that tickets must be purchased before the event happens. Tickets can be purchased in Room 112. February 27 from 5pm – 9:30pm Semi-Formal Dress Tickets: Adults $9 Kids $5 Tickets must be purchased before the event in room 112! German Food German Music Games for the Kids 3. Hey Bearkats, the Klein Swim & Dive Team is hosting an Ultimate Frisbee Tournament on March 21st. Please visit www.kleinswimming.org for tournament packets. Packets are due to Coach Svoboda by Thursday March 19th. 4. ATTENTION STUDENTS! If you are in need of a VOE during Spring Break, please submit your request no later than Thursday, March 5th. School offices will be CLOSED during Spring Break and no staff will be available to issue VOE’s during that week. 5. Spanish Club and Latin Club will play a friendly game of Dodge Ball on Wed., March 4 after school. Meet in the small gym. Remember to wear tennis shoes. 6. SENIORS, please come by the registrars’ table during all lunches TODAY to complete your application for graduation and verify your name for your diploma! Diplomas will be ordered next week! 7. Seniors, if you have not received your final rank/gpa, you may pick up your final rank/gpa in room 127 before school, after school or during lunch. 8. Attention Juniors – If you would like to take the ACT for free, here is your chance. College Board is offering a free ACT test voucher to juniors that want to participate in a study of taking the ACT online versus the traditional paper test. Stop by Mr. Corradino’s office in room 110 for details and to pick up a testing voucher before March 6th if you are interested. Vouchers will be given out on a first come, first serve basis. The registration deadline is on March 13th, 2015 and you will take your test at Klein High School on Saturday, April 18th, 2015 at 8:00am. 9. Do you still want a 2015 yearbook? There are a limited number of yearbooks available. Go to www.smart-pay.com to secure yours today! Deadline is March 5th! 10. Are you an 11th grade student that is interested in government? If you are interested in an exciting opportunity to spend a week at the University of Texas at Austin in a program in which you become a part of the operations of local, county and state government see Ms. Huynh in room 250 for an application. Texas Boys State applications will be due back by Friday, March 20th to Ms. Huynh in room 250. No exceptions. Are you an 11th grade girl interested in an exciting week-long opportunity to see how the government really works? Bluebonnet Girls State is a week long adventure in running a mythical 51st state. You will learn how to organize and run your own city, county and state governments. If you are interested, see Ms. Huynh in room 250 for an application. Congratulations goes out to the boys and girls wrestlers who competed in the state tournament this past weekend. On the girl’s side Morgan Zogg 102 lbs and Kjihla Evans 165 lbs won STATE. This was Morgan’s second title after winning 95 lb division last year. The girls team finished in 3rd place as a team missing second by one point. On the boy’s side, Aaron Clayton won the 220 lb weight class by going undefeated on the year. He finished the year with 65 wins and 0 losses. He also became the winningest wrestler in Klein history by going 201-24 during his career as a BearKat. Way to go grapplers!!! Ya’ll were “simply amazing”!! 13. Congrats to the FCCLA students who competed on Friday at the Star Events Regional Competition in Galveston. Below are the results.
