Luis tells us, “This image was created with a Canon 5D Mark II at ISO 250 F/2.8 and 1/2500. I post-processed the image in Camera Raw, to recover some shadows and crop it. The Bulletin 9 May 2015 The Bulletin 10 Current Image Competition Entry Rules Online submissions will still be $5 each (cash only please) for a maximum of three (3) images. DEADLINE for online entries will be 2 days, on the Tuesday before the meeting, by midnight. Images submitted at the night of the meeting will be $10 each (cash only please) for a maximum of 3 images. Images are to be sent as attachments (not imbedded) to [email protected] with the image’s author in the subject line and the image title and category in the body of the email. Note: Digital album and video submission rules are coming soon. Please do NOT send video or digital album submissions to [email protected]. The Competition Chair will send a confirmation of received emails. Entrants must be in line at the print registration table no later than 7:30 p.m., no exceptions. If you submit online and miss the meeting your images will not be scored and will be rolled over to the next competition only. Without payment images will be not shown and judged. Next Image Competition May 21st Your digital submission should be formatted as follows: • It is not the responsibility of the Competition Committee to make sure your submissions comply with the rules. • As a .JPEG • Adobe RGB 1998 • Longest dimension at 4000 pixels • Resolution of 200 ppi • There is no need to include any kind of matting or border as the system will include one if needed • The submission should be named the title of the image • If submissions are emailed, please use a separate email for EACH image, (SEE INSTRUCTIONS IN ABOVE ARTICLE) OR you can bring them to the competition table on a USB drive no later than 7:30 pm on the day of the meeting. • By entering an image in competition, the maker agrees to release to PPGBA the rights to use that image anywhere to promote the maker and PPGBA - including social media, the Bulletin, the website, or anywhere else deemed appropriate, without prior notification but with full credit to the image maker. To live out their own story with inspiration and passion for what they do.” These three talented photographers join their peers as members of the exclusive Tamron Image Masters team: Michael Gilbert Michael is a third generation photographer, painter and sculpture. He holds PPA Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees and his lectures and shows have taken him all around the globe. Gilbert’s passions include fashion illustration and portrait photography in which his creative process combines both old and new school techniques. As a fine art print maker, Michael always stresses photographers to print their own images. Monica Royal Monica is always looking for a different perspective when it comes to her photography subjects. Her fine-art approach to her macro photography allows her to tune in to her tiny subjects, “listening” to their message so she can convey that message to her viewers. “When I speak May 2015 about photography, I tell people to study the subject matter they really like, then try and do something unusual with it that hasn’t been done,” she says. Her whole approach to photography encourages others to take the average subject and reinvent it though new angles and perspectives. David Akoubian- David has been photographing for about 40 years and working as a nature photographer since 1993. He specializes in the grand and micro landscape. Kristi Bonney- Kristi is a lifestyle photographer based in Lake Chelan, Washington. She specializes in lifestyle portraiture and landscape photography. Chris Buhlmann- Chris started his published photographic journey as a US Navy Flight Officer in the late 80’s and has added the outdoors, sports and places in the world as his journey in life and career evolved. David Guy Maynard- David Guy Maynard is an award winning, internationally published photographer working in Fashion, Beauty, Event, Fine Art, Nature, and General Commercial photography. Mike Moats- Mike Moats is an award winning, professional Nature Photographer from Sterling Heights, Michigan. I started shooting as a hobby in 2001 and it quickly grew into a full time business. Ian Plant- World-renowned professional nature photographer, writer, and adventurer Ian Plant has been photographing our natural world for almost twenty years. Hernan Rodriguez- The recipient of over 30 international photography awards, including a prestigious Black and White Spider Award in the fashion category, as well as a Photography Masters Cup The Bulletin Nomination 2013 in the fashion category, Hernan Rodriguez operates a successful studio in the heart of Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley. Michael Snell- Michael C. Snell is a travel photographer based in Lawrence, Kansas. He shoots on assignment for a variety of publications and corporate clients, and licenses stock travel images from around the world through Robert Harding World Imagery and Alamy. Jonathan Thorpe- Jonathan Thorpe is a commercial photographer just outside of Washington D.C. His blend of story-telling, humor, and cinematic lighting, helps set his photos apart from the rest. Erik Valind- Erik Valind is a freelance photographer, born and raised on the Florida beaches, now living in New York City.
