Welcome to Summer Art Workshops in 2015! I can hardly believe this is my
twelfth year of holding summer art classes! I hope to see returning students
and new faces. There are so many different camps I want to create and so little
time! I am happy to keep camps people love to attend yearly but I also need to
stretch and create new ones!
The Children : Ages 4 – 12 (Some classes are less suitable for age 4, please discuss it with Peggy). There is
a minimum of 5 students attending daily. If a session does not reach 5 students, that session will be
canceled and you will be notified of the change. Class size is limited, you are encouraged to, please, sign
up early. All children are encouraged to bring a light snack.
The Art Workshops and Registration : The workshops are held at
my home in the historic “Goosetown” neighborhood of Iowa City, at
1127 Ronalds Street, Iowa City, 52245. Prairie School of Art students
are encouraged to play, to research the natural world and to
experiment with their own techniques in creating art. We make good
use of indoor and outdoor spaces. There will always be time to draw
freely and explore the prairie garden in each session. Each day has
time for game playing outside as the weather permits. After requests
from children and parents, there are some new options for the day. Some classes have the options of: A.
8:30 to 11:30, B.1 to 4 or C. 8:30 to 4. Some classes are 8:30 to 2:30 only, please read each
description. Please bring a snack for the half days and a snack and lunch for the full days. The last
session is tie-dye; each child in that session will need to bring several items to be dyed.
Students may attend any number of sessions, from one to eight. Applications will be considered on a first
come, first served basis.
Please send your application as soon as possible. Enrollment is by session, supplies are included for
each session. A returned application and a $20 non- refundable deposit per session, per child, is
due two weeks prior to each desired session. The deposit is deducted from each session’s tuition.
There is a one – time $10 registration fee for each unregistered family. Feel free to call me with questions,
but Prairie School of Art will not be able to take any phone registrations. Please make checks payable to:
Peggy Fitzgerald.
