----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HOSST-TOSST Cape Verde Summer School 2015 “The Seafloor and Marine Ecosystem Structures of Cape Verde: Building Capacity for Science-based Management” Mai 18-29, 2015 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The HOSST and TOSST Research School on Ocean System Science and Technology at the Helmholtz Ocean Center for Ocean Research Kiel, Germany together with the Kiel University (Germany), the Dalhousie University (Halifax, Canada) and IORE (Halifax, Canada) in cooperation with the Instituto Nacional de Desenvolvimento das Pescas (INDP Cape Verde), will organise a Summer School dealing with how ocean system science and technology can contribute to ecosystem-based management of marine biodiversity with special emphasis on what the Ocean Science Centre Mindelo (OSCM) could do in the future. The interdisciplinary scientific program focusses on lectures and field trips that address different topics of marine research, such as pelagic ecosystems, fisheries, seafloor structures and coastal management. Language: English during the Summer School programm Venue: Facilities located on São Vincente, Republic of Cabo Verde Date: May 18-29, 2015 Fee: There is no fee for successful applicants. All participating students are accommodated in a small hotel in the city centre of Mindelo, São Vincente in double rooms http://www.oasisatlantico.com/en/portogrande/. Costs for most meals during the Summer School, transport during the excursions, the excursions and course materials are covered from funds by the Helmholtz association HOSST and TOSST. Travel grants: Are available to West-African participants upon application. Who should apply? The Summer School is research-oriented and aims at scientists with a background in marine or environmental natural sciences of all disciplines (mainly at PhD student level, but also advanced master students or early career post-docs).
