CREATIVE THINKING, EFFECTIVE LEARNING
Critical thinking leads to active learning by teaching students how to think rather than what to think. Teachers who wish to
promote critical thinking should encourage a number of skills (such as reasoning, analysis, inferring, etc.) as well as qualities like
open-mindedness, observation and self-reflection.
The speaker will discuss all these implications in the usual classroom structure.
PATHWAYS TO LITERATURE
Studying the timeless works of English literary masters deepens our understanding of the world. It helps us appreciate everyday
life and teaches important values. Literature exposes us to diversity and familiarizes us with various cultures. The importance of
literature in teaching English lies in its ability to foster critical thinking, build valuable skills and expand students’ horizons.
BEING SPECIFIC
The motto “I think, I feel, I learn” can be the perfect epitome for effective language learning offering another option for a multidimensional, inspiring lesson.
THE CLIL APPROACH: READ TO LEARN-LEARN TO READ
In this talk we will see how ELT na CLIL can be blended together.
Our exciting series of CLIL READERS encourage you to discover and explore together with your students and take the best of these
two approaches.
TO ACT OR NOT TO ACT
Through our popular, interactive seminar, we aim to promote the use and importance of theatre in the classroom as a method
for English learners. Through exploring various exercises and projects for EFL, we discover that theatre is an enjoyable way to
achieve many of our teaching goals such as critical thinking, creativity, teamwork and confidence in communication. OSIJEK, SPLIT

DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION
Further to the development of thinking skills, emotions are also crucial and form an indispensable part of any learners’ identity,
behavior and receptiveness. Certain students need to feel emotionally intrigued and secure before they start any cognitive or
critical thinking skills development. That is why, teachers should put special emphasis on tasks which offer an opportunity for
learning from a more emotional perspective.
