April 2015 L.E.A.P. into Learning: What`s

April 2015
L.E.A.P. into Learning:
“Going Green”
This month, our Little Learners will sing songs and read books about keeping the earth clean. The younger learners will be working as a
class to make large Earths and practice saying words like “Reduce,” “Reuse,” and “Recycle.” The Preschoolers will complete science
experiments that will demonstrate what happens to the earth and the environment when they are not taken care of. During the third week
of curriculum, all classrooms will be taking part in Earth Day celebrations. On the last Friday of the month, the children get to dress in
green and create artwork using recycled materials. The Little Learners will learn the ASL signs such as HAPPY and GREEN, while the
Preschoolers will learn these, as well as SECONDARY COLORS.
“L.E.A.P. into Foreign Languages”
L.E.A.P. into Foreign Languages continues to introduce the Preschoolers to basic vocabulary. In addition to learning key vocabulary in a
foreign language, the Preschoolers have spent the majority of the year learning fun facts about different foreign countries and territories
through such activities as art projects, playing games, and even cooking experiments!
“Philanthropy”
Philanthropy continues this month with the children learning about the word “Charity” and how our beloved mascot got her name.
Preschoolers will continue to sing songs and read books to help them better understand the concept of giving to others. Keep an eye out
as the Preschoolers will be naming their own charity, establishing what the purpose will be, as well as discussing some local charities.
“L.E.A.P. Interactive”
This month, the “Going Green” theme is brought to life through the L.E.A.P. Interactive® board. The children will experience a variety
of videos and activities that explore the importance of “Conservation,” “Recycling,” and “Reducing” their carbon footprints. The
children are also learning that they can be part of the solution to pollution and contribute to keeping our Earth clean and healthy for their
future and that of others around them. As you check out your child’s L.E.A.P Interactive® student workbook and their “I did t his
activity on the L.E.A.P Interactive® board” sticker, engage in a conversation with him or her about what they learned and how they
were “Going Green” this month.
