Written by John Wilson Foster, performed by Ian McElhinney It
is 1917. William J. Pirrie, Chairman of Harland & Wolff, has agreed
to an interview about his nephew Tommie Andrews – chief designer of RMS Titanic, a ship whose name Pirrie is loath to speak. He
fondly recalls Tommie’s boyhood and apprenticeship. He re-lives
the feverish inquiries after the sinking, the scorching sermons, the
excited finger-pointing. But as it turns out, Pirrie has his own, quite
different agenda.

An evening with Gareth Dunlop,
Kim Richey & Matt McGinn
Back by popular demand: Gareth Dunlop returns
to The Strand with another two world class
songwriters playing ‘In The Round’ with Kim
Richey & Matt McGinn. Richey and Dunlop met in
early 2013 to write their first song at a co-writing
session in Nashville. On writing with the legendary
songstress Kim Richey, Dunlop said, "The first time
I met Kim Richey was to sit down and write a song
in Nashville. What came out of that first co write
was a great friendship and a song called "Keep
Coming Back" that was later featured in the show
‘Nashville’. Since that time we’ve written five songs
that came together to make this EP.” SCREEN

To Celebrate The 30th Anniversary Of The Film,
Belfast Film Festival present A Screening And
Talk By Ian Nathan, Empire Magazine Writer And
Author Of The Book Terminator Vault. Long before
Titanic and Avatar broke box office records and
won countless awards, James Cameron announced
his genius with the 1984 release of The Terminator. Terminator Vault, written by acclaimed film expert
Ian Vault takes a behind-the-scenes look at the
making of the film, from the initial conception to the
creation of the film’s special effects, many of which
had never been previously attempted. Ian Nathan
will be in conversation with Ralph Mclean.

Ireland, Calvary is a blackly comic drama about
a good priest tormented by various members of
his community. Brendan Gleeson stars as Father
James, a good priest who is faced with sinister and
troubling circumstances brought about by a mysterious member of his parish. Although he continues
to comfort his own fragile daughter and reach out
to help members of his church with their various
scurrilous moral- and often- comic problems, he
feels sinister and troubling forces closing in, and
begins to wonder if he will have the courage to face
his own personal Calvary.

STRAND SENIORS FILM SOCIETY
From June we will be running 12 weeks of classic movies spanning from the 1930’s
(when the Strand was built) through to modern times. These will reflect Holywood’s
most recognisable genres, from Western to Film Noir, and will be accompanied by a
brief introductory talk and post film discussion. The Silver Screen is open to all but
specifically designed for an older audience. Thanks to support from Film Hub.
