100 WOMEN IN HEDGE FUNDS PARTNERS WITH PRINCE HARRY IN SUPPORT OF WELLCHILD
WellChild To Be Beneficiary of 100WHF’s Annual London Gala and Other UK Fundraising Events in 2014
London – 12 February 2014 – 100 Women in Hedge Funds, a leading non-profit organisation for professionals in the
alternative investments industry, today announced that in association with Prince Harry’s patronage of 100 Women in
Hedge Funds’ Philanthropic Initiatives, it will partner with WellChild. WellChild is the national charity working to
ensure the best possible care and support for all seriously ill children, young people and their families across the UK.
100 Women in Hedge Funds has a strong track record of supporting charities and has raised more than $33 million
(gross) for philanthropic causes in the areas of women’s and family health, education and mentoring.
The Duke of Cambridge became patron of 100 Women in Hedge Funds’ philanthropic initiatives in late 2009 and, in
late 2012, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry joined the Duke to become patrons for an additional three
years. Starting in January 2013, 100 Women in Hedge Funds committed to focusing its UK philanthropic endeavours
on three specially chosen charities, one for each year of the partnership. The charities, Action on Addiction in 2013;
WellChild in 2014; and The Art Room in 2015, are part of The Charities Forum of The Duke and Duchess of
Cambridge and Prince Harry, and reflect 100WHF’s three philanthropic themes: mentoring, women’s and family
health, and education.
Colin Dyer Chief Executive of WellChild said: “We are absolutely thrilled that the prestigious 100 Women in Hedge
Funds have chosen to partner with WellChild. We simply couldn’t continue our essential care and support to some of
the UK’s sickest children and their families without the help of partners like 100 Women in Hedge Funds. We’re
looking forward to an exciting calendar of exciting events which will raise essential funds to enable us to reach even
more seriously ill children and their families who desperately need our support.”
Kristen Eshak Weldon, Chair of the London Board of 100 Women in Hedge Funds, commented: “With an outstanding
record of service to thousands of seriously ill children and their families, the staff and leaders of WellChild are
committed to ensuring a brighter future for these young people. 100 Women in Hedge Funds is excited to support
their important service to so many individuals and families, which ensures parents have the support they need. We
salute WellChild for its advocacy for children and for the entire family."
100 Women in Hedge Funds is planning a number of fundraising events to benefit WellChild during 2014, culminating
with the 100 Women in Hedge Funds London Gala to be held on 16 October, 2014.
The fundraising launch will be a Fashion Evening at Harvey Nichols with guest speakers Tamara Mellon and Sarah
Sands, Editor of the London Evening Standard on 27 February. More details are here:
