Standards Information on the Internet
Standards are of key importance in the production of work equipment within the European single market
and beyond. However, finding information on relevant European or international standards is often a very
time-consuming, complex process. This BG-PRÜFZERT Information Sheet shows you where you can
find helpful information sources on the Internet.


European Commission: harmonised European standards
http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/newapproach/standardization/harmstds/reflist.html
The European Commission offers a very helpful list of harmonised
standards, grouped by EC directive and with their titles and EN
numbers. Adherence to these standards in the production process
means that the safety objectives of the directives can be presumed
to have been met.).

BAuA (Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health):
National standards and technical specifications which confer presumption of conformity
www.baua.de/prax/geraete/verzeich.htm
The German Equipment and Product Safety Act (“Geräte- und
Produktsicherheitsgesetz”) stipulates that standards and other
technical specifications can supplement general safety
requirements even in areas not covered by harmonised European
standards. The process of identifying the first such standards is
currently at the preparation stage. (Available in German only.)
