Dan Pollesche
Estimator| Roadway Electric
Dan Pollesche has 23 years of experience in the electrical construction industry and has
been an Estimator at Roadway Electric for seven years. He started his career as a Field
Electrical Inspector Supervisor, then a Superintendent, then again an Inspector before
becoming an Estimator at Roadway.
Like any Estimator, at the end of the day Dan enjoys winning the job but his passion lies
in the challenge. Dan said, “I really like the challenge of getting a new set of plans and
specials. I like doing my own take-offs and deciding the different ways to complete the
work. I enjoy looking for ways to complete the bid using Roadway’s resources that might
give us an advantage over the other bidders.”
When he’s not in the office, Dan enjoys going to concerts, fishing, and is an avid football
fan. His favorite team is the Dallas Cowboys as you may know if you’ve stepped in his
office. Silver and blue items blanket Dan’s office to show his unwavering support of the
Cowboys.
Dan, thank you for contributing to our estimating efforts at Roadway Electric! We
appreciate your service and dedication to the company.

President’s Message:
In my role, I have the privilege of traveling
and attending many meetings on behalf of the
company. The first question I typically get asked
in my travels is “how is everything going at
Pulice?” and the short answer I give is “we are busy!” I know this
is stating the obvious to our employees but it is important for
us to recognize for a moment. We finished last year with record
backlog and are projecting this year to have the largest revenue in
over 7 years. Pulice is a company in transition, we are busier than
ever because the company is continuing its transformation from
an Arizona contractor to a broader Southwest regional contractor.
The second question I typically get asked is “what is the plan
for Pulice?”and the short answer I give is “we are going to grow.”
Being part of a worldwide publicly traded company we have an
expectation to grow from the investment community. To help
focus our growth, Pulice completed a new Business Plan with
input from management from all sides of our company. The Plan
is intended to give our business strategic direction for 2015 and
the next four years in order to achieve the company projections
and goals.
Here are some Plan highlights and progress:
• Expand geographically – We have opened an office in Texas, collocating with Dragados USA in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
• Enter new market sectors – Power sector and P3s (public- private partnerships) are prime examples of new markets we entered in the last six months.
• Increase client base – We are thrilled to add Tucson Electric Power (TEP) and Texas DOT as new clients.
• Diversify project size range – In our well established Arizona market we are currently completing $2,000 maintenance projects up to $100M+ capital improvement projects.
• Recruit top talent – We have hired over 200 people this year and instituted a Pulice Rewards Program incentivizing employees for referrals. In addition, we will develop our existing talent with programs such as the newly formed AGC Young Constructors Forum.
• Leverage the advantage of Dragados USA – The recent SH 288 award and the South Mountain short listing are two recent examples of leveraging the experience and resources of Dragados USA for large projects and P3 pursuits.
• Improve use of the latest technology - Tablets for field superintendents and upgraded 3D modeling software for estimating and project planning are two recent examples.
Every employee has a role in the success of the Plan which
ultimately impacts the success of the company.

FOURTH QUARTER - TOP GUN SAFETY EXCELLENCE
Cipi Cardenas | Superintendent, Concrete - SR 101L, Shea Blvd. to SR 202L (Red Mtn) | 22 years with Pulice
Cipi Cardenas has 30 years of construction experience, with 22 years here at Pulice. He started as a Finisher
and ended up in his current role as a Concrete Superintendent. Concrete and structures are Cipi’s specialties.
He enjoys getting the job done and working with fellow Superintendents Jeff Eagar and Jesse Ramirez, Jr. His
safety motto is simple but effective: go home safe every day. Cipi has shown a wonderful overall improvement
in his safety efforts over the last year. Safety Director Phil Carnevale said, “It’s people like Cipi who are
changing our safety culture here at Pulice.” Cipi has continually pushed his crew
and others to exceed Pulice’s safety expectations. He has accomplished this through
educating the crew and placing accountability on all for project safety.
When Cipi isn’t on the job, you’ll find him playing golf or rooting for the Green Bay Packers. Cipi has been
married for 30 years and has two sons. He is also proud to say that he is a 13-year cancer survivor!
Congratulations Cipi on a job well done!

PROJECT AWARD: SH 288 TOLL LANES
Pulice recently won its first contract in Texas. The company is part of a consortium that won a contract to build a 10.3-mile toll
road in Harris County, Texas.
On February 26, 2015, the Texas Transportation Commission conditionally awarded Blueridge Transportation Group, of which
Pulice is a member, to enter a Public-Private Partnership agreement for the State Highway 288 Toll Lanes Project in Harris
County. The design and construction work will be undertaken by a joint venture of construction companies led by Dragados
USA and Pulice Construction, together holding 50%, and Shikun & Binui America (50%). Kellogg Brown & Root Services, Inc.,
headquartered in Houston, will be responsible for the project’s design.
The value of the project is estimated at over $1 billion, with the construction costs alone amounting to $800 million. The tender
win means that the consortium can proceed to financial closing, and then construct and operate the road over a period of 52 years.
With the objective of exceeding Texas DOT’s goals and expectations, Blueridge Transportation Group presented an innovative
technical solution with “alternative technical concepts” approved by the Texas DOT, aimed at improving mobility and
connectivity, with an enhanced traffic flow, and user experience along the corridor. These innovations include the rebuilding of
approximately 75% of the I-610 interchange. The four-lane toll road will connect southern Harris County to the Texas Medical
Center in downtown Houston with eight direct connectors at Beltway 8.
The project construction of bridges, interchanges and a toll collection system, is expected to take under 4.5 years to complete.
PROJECT FOCUS: ROADWAY ELECTRIC
Streetlight maintenance for the City of Phoenix
JOC in Downtown Phoenix.
CONGRATS
Awarded Projects
Roadway Electric has made steps towards pursuing the alternative delivery market
(Contractor Manager at Risk, Job Order Contracts, Design-Build). Our journey
began in 2013, when Roadway Electric was shortlisted for ADOT’s first FMS
CMAR. Our team put our best foot forward and came in second by .04%. It was
disappointing, although we have learned a tremendous amount in pursing these
types of projects. In late 2013, Roadway Electric was awarded a City of Phoenix
Streetlight Maintenance JOC. We are currently entering our second year acting
as the City’s streetlight maintenance provider. In 2014, Roadway Electric was
shortlisted and selected for the City of Buckeye’s Yuma Road Design-Build. The
project is the first electrical Design-Build in the State of Arizona. Roadway Electric
is in the process of constructing five traffic signals and installing 2.65 miles of
ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) for the City. We anticipate completion
in April of 2015. The project is $2.5M which included design costs. Adding these
types of projects to our resume is extremely important. Roadway Electric will
continue to pursue the alternative delivery market. As our resume strengthens, we
will strive towards becoming a powerhouse in the Arizona market.

PROJECT FOCUS: SR 101L, SHEA
BLVD. TO SR 202L (RED MTN)
The structure work continues to move forward on the South end of the
project and 90th Street. Abutments and piers are complete at McKellips,
McDowell, Indian School and McDonald along with the abutments
at 90th Street. The box beams have been set at McKellips and Indian
School and McDowell and McDonald.
All the falsework has been completed at 90th Street along with the first
stem wall pour for northbound. The other stem wall pour and decks
will follow closely behind.
Retaining Walls have started coming out of the ground at the
Northbound McKellips On and Off ramps. This was in preparation for
the full closure of the ramps at McKellips for complete reconstruction
in late February 2015.

PROJECT FOCUS:
SAN JOSE CREEK
Pulice is constructing a plant stage return
activated sludge pump station upgrade at the
San Jose Creek Water Reclamation Plant near
Whittier, CA. The project began in September
of 2014 and has a scheduled completion date of
February 2016.
The project will provide additional capacity
and redundancy for the return activated sludge
pump station to support the secondary treatment
process. To ensure continuous operation, a new
return activated sludge pump station must be
constructed with the existing pump station in
operation. The project will include construction
of a new wet well, replacement of existing
pumping equipment and associated piping,
and upgrades to ancillary electrical and control
systems.
The work completed thus far has been the
installation of electrical duct banks, electrical
vaults, concrete curb and gutter, and selective
demolition of a chemical building. Excavation for
the pump station began in early 2015 along with
the relocation of ammonia and sulfur dioxide
lines.
We are currently preparing the base to start
construction on the pump house and will start
jack and boring and forming the walls in the next
two weeks.

PROJECT FOCUS: PERRIS DAM
The 4th quarter proved to be challenging for the Perris Dam project, as the project
team tried to obtain high voltage power sources for future rock processing and
dewatering activities. Fortunately, the relationship that Pulice has developed with
the CA Department of Water Resources (CA DWR) through partnering benefitted
both entities during the process. On December 18th, Pulice and CA DWR held
a partnering kickoff session with great success. It was clear that both sides were
committed to the process which made resolution of any potential disputes simpler.
The project received a great Christmas gift when Pulice and Johnson Machinery
agreed to terms on a large equipment acquisition in late December. Approximately
$5M worth of brand new CAT equipment will be delivered in the 1st quarter
of 2015. The equipment is all Tier 4 compliant to meet project specified engine
requirements. As the job rang in the New Year, they were close to obtaining the
services needed and were eager to get equipment and additional manpower
mobilized and hired.

VRG BRIDGE #6 CMAR
PROFESSIONAL SPOTLIGHT:
AGC YOUNG CONSTRUCTORS
The VRG Bridge #6 CMAR project has made great
progress and is currently ahead of schedule. We
started Phase I of the bridge demo in mid-December
(it was originally scheduled for mid-April). We made
up the time during the dirt and substructure work
thanks to all of the dirt and structure teams present on
the project. We have received numerous comments on
the excellent work being performed by our crews from
all of the people visiting the site.
We are pleased to announce that Andy Flecky, Kevin Fisher, Chris
Horn, Tyler Reynvaan, and Ian Shantz were nominated and selected
to be part of the newly formed AZ AGC Young Constructors Forum.
This is a one-year leadership development opportunity through
AGC that has been used in other chapters throughout the United
States. AGC AZ President David Martin will be heading up this new
group of approximately 40 individuals from AZ AGC member firms.
Congratulations gentlemen!

NMBA CLEANUP
HUNT OF A LIFETIME
Vince Smith had an
opportunity that most
hunters are not afforded
- recently filling a coveted
desert bighorn sheep tag.
After scouting for two
months in Unit 44B North,
Vince finally found his
trophy. Vince had seen
this particular sheep while
scouting but lost sight of
him right before the hunt
started. It took six days and
six miles of travel to find the sheep and make the kill. It turns out that it is the
biggest ram killed in the unit, scoring 183 points on the Boone and Crockett
scale. Congratulations Vince!
In November 2014, Debbie Roberts and
Kyndal D’Ambrosio along with their children
joined fellow NMBA members to help clean
up trash for the Adopt-a-Street Cleanup Day.

I AM IRONMAN
For many of us, fall Sundays are
spent with family or watching
football, but for Darwin Kinser
Sunday, November 16th was
like no other day. He traveled
the distance from Phoenix to
Flagstaff on a journey that would
begin before sunrise and end well
after sunset. Darwin conquered
the challenge of completing an
Ironman Triathlon: 2.4-MI Swim,
112-MI Cycle, and 26.2-MI Run.
Darwin’s commitment to become
an Ironman began well before that Sunday, involving months of relentless
training and sacrifice. Congratulations Darwin on your achievement!

NO MORE HOMEWORK
In December 2014, HR Assistant Andrea
Mikina received her Masters of Science
in Human Resource Development (HRD)
from Pittsburg State University. She
completed all of her coursework online
and finished in 2.5 years while working
full-time. The ability to create training
presentations and facilitate training
programs in a previous position inspired
her to go after her Masters in HRD. She
feels that this experience has broadened
her horizons about organizational
development, ethics, and legal issues in the
human resources field. Congratulations
