Centering Prayer Group
This week’s sermon is titled “I Believe in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord” and is based on
Isaiah 61:1-4, 8-11 and John 1:1-18. You are invited to read this text before Sunday as a way of preparing your
heart and mind for worship.
Children in Worship
Be sure to pick up a Worship Bag before you enter the Sanctuary with your child this weekend. Use the ribbons
to mark the hymns and the scripture verses. Show them that the prayers we say each week are written on the
colored, laminated sheets so that they can easily follow along. Also, check out the Library books on the table in
the Narthex that your children can pick up to read during worship. You may also check them out for the week if
you would like.
Pictorial Directory Coming!
Lifetouch was here this week taking pictures for our new pictorial directory. They will be back July 23 – 25 to
take photographs for anyone that couldn’t make it in this week.
You can schedule your appointment online at our church website www.qmpc.org (look for the sign up button on
the home page), there will be sign-up tables in the Narthex after worship in July, or you can call the church
office (239-2548) and we can get you scheduled.
Our directory won’t be complete without you - so sign up today!
News from the Community Garden
All of the small heads of cabbage have been harvested and donated to Daily Bread this week and more beans
and okra have been planted. Please stop by and take a look at all that is growing or check it out
online at: www.qmpcgarden.wordpress.com.
VBS Mission Project
For this year’s VBS mission project we are trying to raise funds to provide a therapeutic cycle for a disabled
person through Wheels on the James. Remember – this VBS is all about God’s Love in Action! We chose
Wheels on the James because they are trying to provide these AmTryke cycles to folks who cannot ride a
traditional bike. We hope that through donations from our congregation AND the VBS children’s coins, we can
raise the $2,000 necessary to purchase a cycle from our congregation.
How can you help? One way would be to write a check to QMPC (marked for Wheels on the James) and place it
in the offering plate. Another way is through the BIKE-A-THON we are having in our church parking lot on
Saturday – June 20 –from 9:30 – 11 a.m. to raise funds for the therapeutic cycle. Kids of all ages can come on
Saturday, ride their bikes through a course, have it checked over for tire pressure, etc. and just have fun. We
hope to have someone here who uses one of these bikes to show how it is ridden, plus someone from Bikes
Unlimited to check over the bikes. It’s just a great way to spend some time as our church family on our
bikes! Come join us!
There is a clear tube in the Narthex with plastic balls inside representing how much money we have raised
towards the $2,000 goal for the cycle. Please help the children from VBS with this project!
Vacation Bible School 2015 – “G-Force: God’s Love in Action” –
Starts Sunday!
Vacation Bible School starts Sunday night at 6 pm for children age 3 through grade 5 completed. Come join us
and bring your grandchildren, friends and neighbors. We have not closed registration. There will be three
nights of fun learning how we can put God’s love in action!
Book Club
The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom combines a history lesson with a compulsively readable melodrama.
The book club will meet on Thursday, July 2nd in the library at 10 am to discuss it. We invite you to join us for a
lively discussion and to share our love of reading. If you have any questions, contact Linda Jennings at 5255423 or [email protected]
