needing socialization and assistance with some daily

From the Pastor’s Desk
Looking Ahead to Next Week: I will be on vacation
beginning June 29 and returning on July 4th. There
are communion services scheduled for the usual
daily Mass times. Saturday is Independence Day.
Our nation was founded on high ideals. We have
lived up to them in many ways, but we have certainly
not been without our failures.
The nation is
constantly being tested. This is not unlike our
experience as Christians. We are held to the
standard of God. We will never quite live up to Him,
and yet our very commitment and efforts make us
truly his children. Let us choose to be both children
of our nation’s founding fathers and of our Father in
heaven.

Reflection: Ezekiel lives the Judeo-Christian ideal
of complete dependence upon God. Every word,
every action, is guided by the Spirit. While admitting
the ideal, most of us would be frightened by such a
total reality. Perhaps we even take pride in our
independence and self-sufficiency. Paul struggled
with submission to God. He was a proud man who
had to admit his own weaknesses. In our own
relationship with God, we might be inspired not just
by the experiences of Ezekiel and Paul, but by Jesus
himself. Jesus, though he is God nevertheless gives
himself completely in obedience and dependence to
the Father. He also makes himself dependent upon
us! Just as he calls us into dependence and
obedience, God chooses to submit himself to us.
Jesus cannot work any miracles among a people
without faith. God does not ask us for anything that
he does not first give willingly and freely to us. He
calls us to give our whole selves in the same way as
him gives fully of himself.
1. Share the prayer of Ezekiel by asking God to
guide all your words and actions. Try it just for
today.
2. Look for ways that God has chosen to depend
upon you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, you have given into our
care the teachings and Spirit of your Son Jesus.
Help us to live according to his word. Guide our
steps. Take us where you want us to go. Show us
what you want us to see. Inspire us to do the work of
your Son.

Beginning this Sunday, the Bishops of the U.S.
have asked all of us to pray for our nation that the
liberty of religious practice will be protected from
the continued assaults by the government at all
levels, court decisions, and secularization of
our culture. Please pray a rosary each day or at
least a decade until July 4th which will mark the
end of the "Fortnight of Prayer" for protection of
our religious liberty to freely practice our faith in
all that we do as a Church.
Prayer for July 4th
Dear Lord,
There is no greater feeling of liberation than to
experience this freedom from sin and death that
you have provided for me through Jesus Christ.
Today my heart and my soul are free to praise you.
For this I am very thankful.
On this Independence Day I am reminded of all
those who have sacrificed for my freedom, following
the example of your Son, Jesus Christ. Let me not
take my freedom, both physical and spiritual, for
granted. May I always remember that my freedom
was purchases with a very high price. My freedom
cost others their very lives.
Lord, today, bless those who have served and
continue to give their lives for my freedom. With
favor and bounty meet their needs and watch over
their families.
Help me to live my life in a way that glorifies you,
Lord. Give me the strength to be a blessing in
someone else's life today, and grant me the
opportunity to lead others into the freedom that can
be found in knowing Christ.

Hamilton Fourth of July Parade
Please mark your calendar to set aside time on
the morning of July 4th at 10 a.m. to walk in the
Hamilton July 4th parade under the "Right to Life
" banner as a sign of our support for the pro life
cause and our right to freely stand up for the
truths of our faith in public. Our parish and
other churches will gather at the Butler
County fairgrounds within tier 4. Be there by
9:45 a.m. This is an exercise of our religious
freedom. If we don't use it we will lose it!
Remember the words of Proverbs 24:10-12:
"If you remain indifferent in time of adversity,
your strength will depart from you.
Rescue those being taken to their death,
and from those tottering to execution withdraw
not.
If you say, "I know not this man!"
does not he who tests hearts perceive it?
He who guards your life knows it,
and he will repay each one according to his
deeds!"

be available during the Healing Service. Come
and experience Jesus' healing power. Healing
includes the physical, spiritual, emotional,

it is not limited to a physical cure. The service is

on Thursday morning July 2nd at 9 a.m. the
movie "Beckett
"will be shown with
discussion to follow. The movie chronicles the
public life of St. Thomas Beckett and his defense
of the Church against the King of England. It will
take place in St. Isidore's hall. Coffee and donuts

NOTRE DAME TABERNACLE SOCIETY submitted by Ann Boehm, Secretary
At the end of Mass, we are often dismissed with the commission to “Go and announce the
Gospel of the Lord.” Involvement in the work of the Notre Dame Tabernacle Society is one way that
this commission can be carried out. The prayerful and financial support of the members of the Society
assist mission priests to bring the Celebration of the Mass, Holy Eucharist and sacraments to the poor
in India, Haiti, Trinidad, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone in Africa and mission societies in
Kansas, Chicago, IL, and New York City.
Did you know that our local group is the only remaining, non-profit Notre Dame Tabernacle
Society sewing vestments and providing, Mass Kits, rosaries and religious articles to missionary
priests? Our Hamilton, Ohio, Society of sewers, rosary makers, packagers and support staff has been
providing this service for more than 72 years.
The Notre Dame Tabernacle Society traces its roots to the “Association of Perpetual Adoration
of the Blessed Sacrament and of work for poor churches which was founded in Brussels in 1848 by
Anne De Meeus.” According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, “in 1853, the society became an
archconfraternity for Belgium, but quickly spread to the nearby countries… In 1863, Pius IX granted the
mother-society at Brussels the right to affiliate confraternities throughout the world… The statutes of the
archconfraternity were approved by the Congregation of Bishops and Regulars” in January, 1880, and
Leo XIII granted it the title of Prima Primaria in July, 1895. “The members pledge themselves to spend
an hour each month in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament and to pay yearly dues into a fund for
the benefit of poor churches. The contributions are used to purchase materials for vestments which are
made by women members of the society and given to poor churches.”
This same work continues to be carried out by the members of the Notre Dame Tabernacle Society of
Hamilton, Ohio. This past year the sewers, rosary makers, packagers and support staff provided the
following items to missionary priest around the world: 328 vestments, 3,941 rosaries, and many
requests for religious articles, 35 Mass Kits along with 50 rosaries and some religious articles in
each package.
The Society depends on contributions from members to finance its ministry to mission priests.
During the previous four years, we were blessed to receive money from a Maria Anna Brunner grant
from the Sisters of the Precious Blood that enabled us to purchase and ship Mass kits, consisting of a
small carrying case with a chalice, paten, cruets, candles and linens, to priests in remote mission areas.
The Grant Commission recently informed us of their inability to grant funds to NDTS this year because
of the many needs they had to fill. This denial seriously effects our ability to provide Mass Kits this year.
We have 27 requests from priests on a current list, and some of them have been waiting since fall of
2014. More requests keep coming in on a regular basis. The Grant money allowed us to order Mass
Kits and take advantage of a free-shipping special that is offered in July each year. The kits cost $149
each.
Following is an appeal we received in a letter from Fr. Kiran Thota who writes: “Now I am in a
parish called St. Joseph’s Church, Naruladevupadu in the Diocese of Eluru (India.) We have got five
substations and one sisters community. Every day we celebrate three Masses. People are poor and
depends on the daily wages for their daily bread… They like to have Holy Mass in the evening. Please
grant me the Mass Kit and vestments because the villages are so traditional that they cannot see Mass
without certain things.” This is only one example of the many appeals we have received. These priests
depend upon assistance from NDTS to help bring the Gospel message of God’s love and mercy to
people in desperate need.

Month of the Precious Blood of Jesus
The Catholic Church dedicates the month of July to the Precious Blood of Jesus, which was
"shed for the many, for the remission of sins" (Matthew 26:28). (The Feast of the Precious
Blood, established by Pope Pius IX in 1849, is celebrated each year on the first Sunday of July.)
Like the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the subject of Catholic devotion in June, the Precious Blood has
long been venerated for its role in our redemption.
Many non-Catholics find Catholic devotion to the "body parts" of Jesus Christ to be a little odd.
In addition to the Sacred Heart and the Precious Blood, there are devotions to the Five Wounds
(in Christ's hands, feet, and side); to the shoulder wound, where Christ carried the Cross; and to
the wounds caused by the crown of thorns, to name just a few.
Faced with Protestant discomfort with these devotion, many Catholics have abandoned or
downplayed them. But we should not do that. These devotions provide a living witness to our
belief in the Incarnation of Jesus Christ. Our Savior is not an abstraction; He is God-Made-Man.
And as the Athanasian Creed tells us, in becoming man, Christ assumed humanity into the
Godhead.
It's an awesome thought: Our physical nature is united to God through the Person of Jesus
Christ. When we venerate Christ's Precious Blood or His Sacred Heart, we aren't making an idol
out of Creation; we are worshiping the One True God Who so loved the world that He gave His
Only Begotten Son to save us from everlasting death.
Through the following prayers, we can all join with the Church in reaffirming our belief that our
God walked among men, that one day we might all dwell with God.
