Hello all,
I want to start out by thanking Mrs. Cameron for her drive behind our
Primary Math Night. It was a very successful event with fantastic prizes
awarded for the estimation jars for each grade and the parents. As well,
we need to thank the PAC for a highly successful clothes swap. It is
events such as this that highlight the importance of bringing our
community together. It truly is a win-win.
As the sun starts to shine, I would like to remind parents and students
of a few things. First, everyone needs to remember the importance of
wearing helmets if they are riding their skateboard, scooters, or bikes
to school. If you ride you must wear a helmet. In addition, students
need to remember that bikes, scooters and skateboards must be walked
on school property. Please remember that the school is not responsible
for lost or stolen items. Now that the sun is staying up longer, our
children also want to stay up longer. Try to maintain
bedtimes. Kids need 10 hours of sleep.
Mr. Edwards
PLANNERS
The planner is a vital communication tool between
home and school. It allows the school the
opportunity to inform you of special events and
activities that are happening in your student’s life
that we want parents to be aware of. As well it
assists students with organizing their homework.
We also ask that parents use the planner to inform your child’s
teacher of any changes in their usual routine. For example if their
dismissal routine is changing please write a note in the planner
informing the teacher how and who your child will be going home
with. Reminders to your child about after school activities can be
written in the planner as well. Our staff always refers to the
students’ planners if a student is unsure of their afterschool
expectations.

We are getting ready for our Spring Community Clothes swap, it is an awesome
opportunity to go thru your families clothes and let go of what no longer fits or
suits you. Bring your bags of used clothing to Queens Park. Then come and refresh your closets with new to you clothes for your whole family on Saturday
May 2nd starting at 8:30. Tell everyone you know, this swap is for our whole
community. It's a "Win Win" for everyone involved.
SAFE ARRIVAL PROGRAM
Regular attendance at school is
expected and critical for
student success. However, if
due to illness or unforeseen
circumstances your child is
absent we would appreciate a
phone call to our school.
To those parents who have
called to let us know if your
child is going to be absent or
late. It does save us time
making numerous phone calls.

7 HABITS
Written by Noah Ratke…..“I was inspired by the book “Ruby’s Hope”. She saw a homeless person and told her
class and they all helped the homeless people. I wanted to do the same thing. Mom and I called the Salvation
Army men’s shelter and the Soupateria. We brought food to the Soupateria and asked what the shelter needed
most. We brainstormed for the rest of the day about the 7 Habits and how we could use them.
Habit 1 – Be Proactive: Find out what the shelter needed
Habit 2 – Begin with the end in mind: Set a goal to raise $100 for the shelter.
Habit 3 – Put 1st things 1st: Talk to Mr. Edwards and Mrs. MacIntyre to organize a bake sale
Habit 4 - Think win-win: Kids get baking and we raise
money
Habit 5 – Seek first to understand, then to be understood: EVERYONE has the right be happy and to have
respect
Habit 6 – Synergize: Students and teachers brought baking to support the sale
Habit 7 – Sharpen the saw: When we help others we
grow our hearts, our souls, our bodies and our brains.”
