Mai Tai Series ® ® Ultrafast Ti:Sapphire Oscillators The Spectra-Physics Mai Tai® Ti:Sapphire oscillator is used for a variety of applications ranging from general spectroscopy to multiphoton microscopy. With its leading performance specifications and largest installed base of any laser of its type, the Mai Tai is truly a cutting-edge tool for basic research and biological imaging. The Mai Tai Series Advantage • High output power maximizes penetration depth in multiphoton imaging • Short output pulse width to provide high peak power • Wide tuning range for efficient excitation of all commonly used fluorophores • Smooth tuning with no pulse drop outs • Outstanding pointing stability eliminates the need to realign experimental set-up • Regenerative mode locking for unmatched stability • Rapid scanning capability for two-color experiments The Mai Tai series includes four models of increasing power, pulse width and tuning range to allow customers to choose the system to best match their application. Ideal for multiphoton microscopy, the Mai Tai HP with an integrated Spectra-Physics 14 W Millennia® pump laser provides more than 300 nm (690–1020 nm) in useable tuning range with over 2.5 W of average power and a pulse width of less than 100 fs. For customers interested in systems with a shorter pulse width, the Mai Tai BB and Mai Tai XF, both with integrated 10 W Millennia pump lasers, provide more than 240 nm in useable tuning range with a pulse width of less than 80 fs. Both are excellent choices for customers with a limited budget. Finally, the Mai Tai XF-1 with an integrated 5 W Millennia pump laser provides more than 200 nm in useable tuning range with an even shorter pulse width of less than 70 fs—an ideal choice for pumping the Spectra-Physics Spitfire® Pro ultrafast amplifier system. The Mai Tai series reliability is maintained using the ultrastable regenerative mode-locking technique proven with the Spectra-Physics Tsunami® oscillator. Using this method, the Mai Tai is capable of hands free, drop-out free wavelength tuning enabling speedy collection of excitation profiles all at the click of a mouse. Reliability is also enhanced with StabiLok®, the laser system’s real-time monitoring technology, which provides excellent beam pointing stability, minimizes average power fluctuations, and eliminates wavelength drift. These two features combine to make the Mai Tai the most reliable and most versatile hands-free laser source available. • Most experienced ultrafast service and support team 3500 Mai Tai HP Mai Tai BB Mai Tai XF Mai Tai XF-1 Average Power (mW) 3000 2500 2000 1500 1000 500 0 650 700 750 800 850 900 Wavelength (nm) 950 1000 1050 1100 Specifications1 Tuning Range2 Mai Tai HP 690 nm–1020 nm Mai Tai BB 710 nm–990 nm Mai Tai XF 710 nm–950 nm Mai Tai XF-1 710 nm–920 nm Average Power3 Wavelength 690 nm 710 nm 800 nm 920 nm >500 mW >1.35 W >2.5 W >1.35 W Mai Tai BB >650 mW >1.5 W >650 mW Mai Tai XF >650 mW >1.5 W Mai Tai XF-1 >400 mW >900 mW Mai Tai HP 950 nm 990 nm 1020 nm >400 mW >250 mW >500 mW >400 mW Pulse Width4, 5 Mai Tai HP <100 fs Mai Tai BB <80 fs Mai Tai XF <80 fs Mai Tai XF-1 <70 fs Other Output Characteristics Beam Roundness5 0.9–1.1 <10% Astigmatism5 Repetition Rate 5, 6 Beam Pointing Stability 80 MHz ±1 MHz <50 μrad/100 nm <0.15% Noise7 <±1% Stability8 Spatial Mode TEMoo, M2 <1.1 Polarization5 >500:1 horizontal Beam Divergence5 <1 mrad Beam Diameter (1/e2)5 <1.2 mm Mai Tai Laser Head Notes 1.
