Aged Rum Old Fashioned £8.50

The original name for the old fashioned with a bourbon whiskey was said to have been
anachronistically, the recipe was said to have been invented by a bartender at a club in
honour of Colonel James E Pepper a prominent bourbon distiller who brought it to the
Waldorf Astoria hotel bar in New York City. Our version uses barrelled rum of 3 blends
which gives you a slightly sweeter and wholesome flavour you can’t say no to another too.
Smoked Aged Manhattan £8.95
The Manhattan originated from the Manhattan club in New York City in the early 1870s
where it was invented by Dr Iain Marshall for a banquet hosted by Lady Churchill (Winston’s
mother) in honour of a presidential candidate. The original "Manhattan cocktail" was a mix of
"American whiskey, Italian vermouth and Angostura bitters". During Prohibition (1920–1933)
Canadian whisky was primarily used because it was available. At the Railway Telegraph our
twist comes from using a smoking gun. Every aspect of making this cocktail will
open up your senses to a new level.
Negroni £8.95
The Negroni was originally invented in Florence Italy in 1919 at bar Casoni. There are
rumours that Count Camilo Negroni invented it by asking his bartender to strengthen his
favourite cocktail, the Americano by adding gin to Campari and Martini Rosso rather than
the normal soda water. At the Railway Telegraph we use a barrelled gin that only
deepens the flavours that once was.

Our leafy suburb, filled with amazing personalities and characters deserves a cocktail
that is worthy of its residents. Whisky, mint and sugar syrup will do that.

An English rose is a young, typically English girl. Normally she will have brown
hair, pale skin, green eyes and rosy cheeks. she is very beautiful and very rare.
Our blend of gin, absinthe, citrus and berries is equal to her.
The Knickerbocker £8.50
Want to start the weekend early? The classic Knickerbocker dates back to the 1860's, just
a short time after this pub opened in 1853. This drink combines rum with a fruity mix
that includes raspberry and is sure to bring back a few childhood memories.

The Telegraph Punch £25
Charles Dickens’s Punch, a recipe created by the writer’s own devising, is an ideal drink to
ring in the holiday season. It is difficult to imagine a better combination than the brandy and
rum found here. The brandy mellows the rum and the rum adds complexity to the brandy.
It’s also supremely “more-ish” – a colloquial English term meaning, well, you continually
want more. I'm guessing that's another you'll be having then?! Coming up.

Pimm’s Cup for 4 £20
Pimm, a farmer's son from Kent, became the owner of an oyster bar in central London and
offered the gin-based drink containing a secret mixture of herbs and liqueurs as an aid to
digestion, serving it in a small tankard known as a No.1 Cup, hence its subsequent name.
Pimm's began on a large-scale production in 1851 to keep up with sales to other bars.
The distillery began selling it commercially in 1859 using hawkers on
bicycles…now you get to enjoy on a summers day in a great big cup
Beetroot Mary £8.95
When you think of the few 'classic' cocktails that bartenders even know how to make
anymore, none has a more storied past than the Bloody Mary, here is our
beetroot version, we hope you enjoy as much as we do.

This daiquiri benefits from a mere splash of rum compared to the original proportion.
We add depth to the classic daiquiri by adding banana and chocolate.

Made with a combination of bourbon and Japanese premium whisky, we bring you a touch
of the oriental to the Railway Telegraph. The production of Japanese whisky began as a
conscious effort to recreate the style of Scotch whisky. The combination of plum
jam and plum sake preserves the sweet flavour for a summer’s evening.
