2015 Mixologist of the Year
Competition
Official Liquor: Uncle Val’s Gin
The 2015 Mixologist of the Year Competition will take place at the Restaurant Operators
Conference (ROC) on Monday May 18, 2015 at Pines Manor in Edison, NJ.
Participants must be at Pines Manor no later than 2:30PM. Competition starts at 3:30PM.
PRIZE
Winner of the Mixologist of the Year Competition will receive a package of gift cards from
some of the greatest Garden State Restaurants and a $250 Gift Certificate offered by the
NJRHA. The Winning Cocktail will be highly promoted on NJRHA’s Website & Social Media and during some of NJRHA’s main Signature Events.
RULES & GUIDELINES OF THE COMPETITION








Applicants must work as bartenders in a New Jersey Licensed Restaurant.
Recipes must use at least 1 oz Uncle Val’s Gin which will be provided by the NJRHA the day
of the competition.
No more than 6 ingredients per cocktail can be used (ice does not count as an ingredient).
This DOES apply to any sub recipes for syrups.
All Recipes must be measured in Ounces, ½ oz, ¼ oz, drops or dashes.
All Recipes and lists of ingredients must be turned in to the NJRHA by April 30, 2015.
The Key Liquor and Ice will be provided by the NJRHA. All the other ingredients and utensils should be provided by the participants.
All ingredients should be reasonably attainable by any bar in NJ.
Participating Restaurants/Bartender finalists should feature their drink for the month of May
2015 in their bars.
Cocktails will be scored on the following criteria (Please note that the items are listed in order of greatest to lowest point values.): Taste; Novelty; Appearance; Garnishment; and
Name of Cocktail.
