Nene Infant and Nursery School and Ramnoth Junior School Newsletter – April 2015 Welcome back to school after the Easter holidays. As we start the Summer Term we hope for sunny weather as we get ready for many different events at the Nene Infant and Nursery and Ramnoth Junior Schools; more details will follow. Karen Crawley For Sale/For Summer Just to remind you that we will have purple summer dresses in stock in the Nene office again next week. We also have water bottle tops and replacement water bottles for sale at Nene that can be used at both schools and again request that parents make sure water bottles are in school each day. This way we can ensure children have access to drinks throughout the day. Thank you. Easter Club I am delighted to say that we had a second fantastic Easter Club for Y6 and Y5 pupils who came into school to do both revision sessions ready for SATS but also lots of fun activities. The feedback from staff and children was that it was an enjoyable end to the holidays! “Easter club was fun and exciting and the staff were brilliant, beautiful and really good fun!” Toma “I liked learning French because it was fun and interesting. I liked making salt dough and went home and made some with my mum!” Wiktoria PE Kit! Punctuality! Please remember to send your child’s PE kit to school. A pair of shorts, a t-shirt and trainers or plimsolls in a named bag will make sure that your child is ready to take part in PE. In line with our drive to have improved attendance we continue to ask that children arrive punctually to start the day. Doors open at 8.50am and we start teaching at 9.00am. Children who arrive late miss this important introduction! Moving On & Moving Up! Thomas Clarkson will have a one-week induction for our Year 6 children from 13th – 17th July and Neale Wade will have a two-week induction for our Year 6 children from 29th June – 10th July. This gives us the opportunity to let all children have a longer transition time in their new class so that they are happy, confident and ready for the new school year. All children will return to their current class for the last few days of term. More details will follow nearer the time! Ready for SATs—Breakfast Club for Year 6! Another Parking Plea! Please take care to make sure that when parking you are not obstructing any driveways or entrances for others. Thank you. During the week commencing Monday 11th May Breakfast Club will be free of charge for children in Year 6! Get ready for SATs by enjoying a healthy breakfast! Preparing for the weather! Although we have recently had some lovely warm weather there is really no guarantee that it will last! Therefore please: Send your child with a coat each day, the weather can change suddenly and we do like the children to spend playtimes out in the fresh air if possible Send your child with a hat which they can wear on hot days Make sure that your child’s water bottle is in school so that they can have access constantly to a drink Use sun cream - unfortunately we cannot apply sun cream within school. Clubs Our after-school clubs will continue again this term. We will be looking to see if there are any spaces as many clubs do have a waiting list and will let parents know if places are available.
