BY THE NUMBE RS
DE AR ACC FAN S, F RI EN DS & ALU M NI:
Welcome to the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Golf Championship. As
you enjoy our competition, you are witnessing national-caliber student-athletes
performing at the highest level.
2
Virginia sophomore Lauren DiazYi has been named ACC Golfer of the
Month twice this season (October &
February). Diaz also leads all ACC
golfers with two individual titles in
2014-15.
This is an exciting time for our league as we continue to move forward as a true
Atlantic Coast Conference, with membership spanning from New England to South
Florida and beyond. Our current 15 member schools collectively make the ACC even
stronger in terms of Olympic Sports competition. In addition, the ACC geographic
footprint contains the most television households and highest population of any conference nationally. It is projected that by 2030, 55 percent of the population of the
United States will lie within the Northeast and Southern states — prime ACC
territory.

Duke leads all ACC schools with
six NCAA Championships. The Blue
Devils captured national titles in
1999, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007 and
2014.
Last season, ACC Women’s Golf capped off an outstanding year with conference
champion Duke capturing its sixth NCAA women’s golf title, holding off defending
champion Southern California by two strokes. The Blue Devils were led by ACC
individual champion Celine Boutier, who placed second in the NCAAs. A recordsetting nine ACC teams — Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, NC
State, Notre Dame, Virginia and Wake Forest — and new member Louisville, earned
bids to the 2014 NCAA Regionals after Boutier led the Blue Devils to their third consecutive ACC title and the 19th in program history.
6
Duke freshman Leona Maguire
leads the ACC with six Top 5 finishes.
Maguire also leads the league in
stroke average (71.1) and in rounds of
par or better (16).
The ACC has long stood for excellence on the course and in the classroom. That
commitment was demonstrated last year, when 67 women’s golfers were
named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll, having earned a 3.0 GPA or better for
the school year.
Our congratulations and best wishes go out to all of our student-athletes, coaches
and programs, and my sincere thanks to you for your support of the Atlantic Coast
Conference.
